Breathtaking view of the Bay of Napoli
After a very long drive from Florence, with stops at Vesuvio and Pompei, we arrived in Sorrento just as it was becoming dark, but managed to take in some of the amazing view from Napoli to Sorrento.
The hotel sits atop a large, windy hill, so if you want to eat or grab some drinks or snacks, do so before heading up to the hotel. We did not and ended up going to sleep without any dinner.
Artwork adorns the lobby of the hotel and it has an open air feel, very tropical.
The second, odd looking key you receive has to be stuck in the small hole in the outlet to the left of the door so your lights will work. I had to call the front desk to find that out.
The shower was extremely small, barely big enough to accomodate me.
The floor to the room was tile, which was an interesting and pretty cool change of pace to what we were used to.
The window opened up to an amazing view of the bay, and the pool area. It was by far the most incredible view we had of all the hotels we stayed at while in Italy. I opened the windows, looked out to the sea and was seranaded by the band playing traditional Italian songs by the pool. All that was missing was a bottle of wine.
The buffet breakfast was wonderful, lots of food to choose from and nothing ran out. The doors were opened to the pool area and let in a nice sea breeze.
I'd stay there again, and recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Sorrento.
Unique Quality: The view alone makes this hotel a must stay if you're going to be in Sorrento. There are also two bars and a pool. The hotel is close to the center of town and offers a free shuttle bus service. There you can take a boat ride to the Isle of Capri, shop and eat.

Long way to the road
I didn't actually stay in the hotel but there were some people on my flight that did. The hotel is 600m from the main road and the hotel has to operate a shuttle bus just to get you to and from the road. Even once you are at the main road, you still have a 30 min walk into Sorrento!

topless sunbathing in Sorrento
My wife likes to sunbathe topless, are there any topless beaches in or near Sorrento.
We are going to stay in the Gran Paradiso Hotel, has any one seen any topless sunbathing there ?

As a general rule there is no general rule in Italy ;-) (as usual). My advice would be to look around and see what the others are doing and then act accordingly. At hotel pools I have rarely seen topless women here in Italy, while on the beach things change.
On many/most beaches in Italy you can sunbathe topless even with grandmothers and kids running around you. Officially topless or nudism is banned except for specific places and you can get fined and/or taken to court.
However, as pointed out, being in Italy just watch what the Italians are doing and follow them. Generally that works here.

Unfortunately I don't know about the beaches in that area, sorry. The hotel staff might be able to help or the local tourist office.
