Cesare Augusto

The location is very close to one of the main Piazzas in Sorrento. The price is reasonable for the area.

Unique Quality: The decor is tasteful, the rooms are large, spotlessly clean, with private balconies.

Pray for no neighbours

The public areas of the hotel are lovely, modern and spotlessly clean. The bedrooms are extremely disappointing. Whereas the double glazing is the best I have come accross in Italy - essential to keep out the noise of the busy main road outside- the walls are paper thin, and every noise from your neighbours can be heard. As Sorrento appeals more to the elderly, chances are you won't have noises of the biblical variety, but everything that goes on in their bathroom will be no secret! And if they get up early, so will you. The food is, in my opinion, poor. Many other guests enjoyed the food, but the buffet continental breakfast was the cheapest and nastiest I have ever had in Italy, the main courses at night were canteen quality.

Unique Quality: There is a small rooftop pool and cafe/bar which is very pleasant. The hotel was spotlessly clean, most of the staff very friendly and happy to speak english

Hi we are planning a trip to italy in sept 2006, and would like to visit sorrento via train, any suggestions on nice budget hotel to stay in sorrento? needs to be within walking distance of town center. We also would like to do a day trip to Pompeii, and Isle of Capri, any tips, how much time should we spend here? Thanks
Nicky

HI Nicholanna.

We were in Sorrento last August. Stayed at the Cesare Augusto, centrally located just 5 mins. walk from the railway station and minutes from the centre of the town itself. Nice big rooms and helpful staff. Would stay there again if we ever get back there. You can catch the ferry across to Capri - only about 10 Euros or so I think. We only went over for a looong lunch, but there is plenty to see and do to fill in a whole day - then back on the ferry. We took a guided tour of Pompeii - caught the bus from Sorrento. Did Herculaneum the next day with the same company. Worth it I think - rather than making your own way there - although many do. Hope you enjoy Italy - we loved it.
