Only thing I could fault was the food.
The Hotel Ascot is lovely and clean and has a swimming pool. I enjoyed my time here, but the only thing I would do differently is eat out as the food isn't very good at this hotel. They did try their very best and the they bent over backwards to accomodate vegetarians in our party (they cooked them anything they requested) but it was still poor. The service was excellent and the hotel is right at the bottom of the cliff on the main street and a two minute walk from all the shops and restaurants. I was in a single room and it was tiny, but this was no problem. There is a fridge in the room but you had to pay 5 or 10 euros a day to have it switched on, you also had to pay extra at breakfast if you dind't want the toast and cereals and you wanted a cooked breakfast, and you had to pay for your drinks which weren't included with the meal, but apart from all this I would recommend staying there again and I would definitely go back.

Sleeping in a vat of custard
We booked this hotel through a package deal, which was a good value offer.
It is on the main street, so that it can be noisy at night, but is convenient for exploring the town and its restaurants. Amenities include a swimming pool, bar and spacious breakfast room. The rooms are simply furnished, but have private facilities, satellite tv and the all-important airconditioning.
Unique Quality: Our room was painted a particularly virulent shade of yellow, so if you dream of total immersion in a vat of custard, this is the hotel for you.
