Sorrento attico (apartment): Apartment with huge roof terrace

We choosed the apartment because of the price, location and the views. It was chep and no needed to pay so much when booking it (we pid the rest at apartment) and yes, it was great location and views!
Apartment itself was little worn furniture in "main" bedroom was oldish and smaller bathroom was more worn, we didn´t use it at all, but the bigger bathroom and the kitchen looked quite new and I belive (and hope) they are making some repairs one by one. Owner family was very friendly!! When we first came (they pick up us from circumvesuviana station) all the doors of the apartment were open to terrace, and the apartment was freezing cold!! I must say I got little worried about the temperature (it was at march) at the moment. When they left, we shut all the doors, but it still felt like we were outside. There is a central heating, but if you come from northern Europe, you must remember that it is on only 2 or 3 hours at night. Luckily we had warm clothes and there was a very warm quilt for a night. We kept all doors shut all the time, so the warm didn´t get out. But this would be a problem in all the houses in Italy I belive! If you come at summer, you will enjoy huge 100m2 roof terrace with a view to Vesuvio! It was great! We didn´t get so much of it because of the weather, but I can only imagine how I would enjoy it at summer. We sat there for a while one day and talked how we would have eaten there and so on, if it would hve been warmer!
An apartment had two bedrooms (another one had been decorated as for children, so we didn´t feel like using it, only watch tv coupple of times, when we noticed it was working better there than in "our" bedroom.
If you are a Finn (or Swedish) you might want to bring a dish washing brush with you. We allways do forget they aren´t used outside Scandinavia. For some reason there´s no good knife for bread also at most of these rentals.
We paid 450e for a week, at march 2012. It might have been a low season price, I think.

Unique Quality: The roof terrace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You could walk to circumvesuviana easily in about 10 minutes.
Supermarket (quite a big one) just around the corner!

The Hotel Sorrento City: Great place to stay while in Sorrento

The Hotel Sorrento City is set in the middle of the two main squares of Sorrento, Piazza Tasso and Piazza Lauro, right in the center, next to the supermarket, trendy shops, theatre and the cinema, beside the circumvesuviana train station and the port, at the same time isolated from the busy day-life of Sorrento.
The convenient position of the Hotel offers an excellent base for visiting Sorrento and the neighbouring tourist attractions.
I wanted to thank everyone at Hotel Sorrento City for a wonderful experience during our stay there.

The relationship of the staff is very nice and friendly . They are ready to help in every moment in every subject we had questions about . The hotel is small, beautiful and very comfortable.
We would recommend this hotel due to the following:
1) Location: Ideal for bus/train travelers as its near the station and on the main street just a block from the main square
2) Breakfast: Good variety and fresh
3) Clean: Building is new or recently remodeled

La Terrazza Vacation Rental: Quiet and relaxing vacation rental in Sorrento

La Terrazza Vacation Rental is a graceful apartment of 110 square meters. It is an house built in 1900 and it has been recently renewed. The Holidays House La Terrazza is located in Sorrento centre, in the quiet neighbourhood of Sant’Agnello.
This area is at 2 kilometers from the main square of Sorrento, Piazza Tasso. Near Holidays House La Terrazza there are many shops: supermarket, confectioner’s, laundry, fruit and vegetable market, restaurants etc., but at the same time this is in a very quiet area.
Sorrento Holidays House La Terrazza sits in the promontory over looking the sea and the towns of Sant'Agnello and Piano di Sorrento. Situated in an enchanting lemons and oranges garden, Sorrento Holidays House offers an exceptional vista of the sea and coastline.
Set among lovely hanging gardens which are typical of the Sorrento Coast, the property is in an area particularly rich in vineyards, gardens and lemon trees. The furnishings of the apartment are simple and comfortable.
There is a TV, radio CD player, DVD player, cooker, fridge, freezer, microwave oven, American Coffee machine, BBQ, iron and ironing board, washing machine, hairdryer, safe, heating, toys, first-aid kit and car parking.
The House is composed of a fully equipped modern kitchen, 3 double or triple bedrooms for 13 people maximum, a living area with double sofa bed, and 2 bathroom with shower or tub. All furnishings are tasteful and modern. There is an exclusive large sun terrace sea view of 70 sq mt with shower equipped with sun beds and sun umbrellas. Pets are allowed.
On request there are a baby cot and high chair for younger guests.
The property can be easily reached by bus, train or car and there is private parking. It is a short walk down to the beach at La Marinella, or by bus to Sorrento Marina Grande where there are several excellent restaurants, boat rental services and a scuba diving centre.
The bus stops which conned to Amalfi, Ravello, Salerno, Sorrento and Positano is a short walk from the property. From Sorrento and Positano there is boat service to Capri and Ischia. From Sorrento and Sant'Agnello there is train service to Pompei, Herculaneum, Vesuvius and Naples. From Salerno there is easy connection to the archeological site of Paestum.
If You arrive by car, there are reserved parkings not far from the apartment. The Sant’Agnello railway station is about 800 meters away, and by train You can easily reach Pompeii, Naples etc.
The nearest beach is La Marinella, which is 1300 meters away: You can go there on foot if You feel like, but If You decide to go by car, there is a car parking there. That beach is a typical Sorrento beach and You’ll find a lot of bathing establishments where umbrellas, deckchairs and a bar are available and where kids can safely swim.
Sorrento area is located on a platform of a volcanic stone, 50 meters above the sea-level and there aren’t many beaches. That is the reason why You’ll see so many wooden bathing establishments here. If You look for a large beach in Sorrento area, You should go to Alimuri beach (4 Km away from the Holidays House La Terrazza) – payment car parking available.
A curiosity: if You rent the Holidays House La Terrazza, consider also that each week a street market is arranged. Besides, on Monday every week in Sant’Agnello and Piano di Sorrento (about 2 Km away from the Holidays House La Terrazza) You can go to the local street market where You can find anything for very good prices.
We suggest You also to visit the small but absolutely breath-taking public garden Villa Comunale of Sorrento (free entrance) from where You can admire the beautiful gulf of Naples with its symbol Vesuvius. And in the evening, if You wish to try one of the best pizzas in the area see you soon.

Unique Quality: La Terrazza Vacation Rental sits in the promontory over looking the sea and the towns of Sant'Agnello and Piano di Sorrento.

La Terrazza Vacation Rental: Beautiful Sorrento Vacation Rental

Italy - Sorrento is a beautiful small Italian town sitting atop high cliffs overlooking the Bay of Naples.
It is clean, safe, friendly, and a great jumping off point for day trips to surrounding locations in the Italian state of Campania.
We were pleasantly surprised with Sorrento.
It was a first stop on a 15-day vacation to Italy that my wife and I took to celebrate our 25th Anniversary.
Our 25-year-old son, 21-year-old daughter and their respective boyfriend and girlfriend accompanied us. We spent 5 days here.
Subsequently we visited Rome, Venice, and Lake Como.
Reports that Sorrento would be overcrowded and overpriced seemed to be exaggerated.
Perhaps our visit in late May helped us enjoy great weather, while still avoiding the summer crowds. Sorrento is a very tidy, beautiful, and friendly place.
They have been welcoming European tourists for over 200 years, and are very good at it.
The scent of the abundant lemon groves coupled with the stunning views of the bay of Naples including Mount Vesuvius and topped off with quaint side streets made our stay a memorable one.
Commuter trains from Naples easily reach Sorrento, and the train station is centrally located.
The main street (Corso Italia) is intersected by Piazza Tasso, which is the centre of the town.
From here you can easily walk down through a gorge to the beach or into the historic district for a wide variety of watering holes and restaurants.
Just off the main Piazza there is an ancient building built in the gorge. It is lit with different coloured flood lights in the evening and is a very nice sight.
The beaches would not be described as stunning Mediterranean beaches. There are a myriad of beach clubs offering chaise lounges and umbrellas atop cement piers and wooden platforms.
Although not as typically ITALIAN as many other destinations, it is a great place to get your fix of sun, partying, limoncello, and ferries or buses to a wide variety of locations for day trips.
Sorrento can visited on a budget staying in an Apartment and eat at moderately priced restaurants, or you can stay and eat very expensively.... but the views and memories are the same no matter what.
We rented a three bedroom house located 900 meters from the train station and a 5 minute walk to Piazza S.Agnello: Sorrento Holidays House La Terrazza (http://www.SorrentoHoliday.info).
It was clean and convenient and very roomy. There we several grocery stores and restaurants close by.
I highly recommend this apartment - 100% residential and surrounded by lemon groves!

Villa Quercia: Lovely villa in the hillside of Sorrento

I've spend in this villa two weeks the last summer with my large family ( 8 persons with 4 kids...) When my mother was young she made a road trip in South Italy with my father, so now, after 30 years, she decided to came back in Italy with their sons. We rented a villa because in this way we can stay all together ( also with our dog!) We found this beatiful villa by web and we've decided to book it because it has a large garden and a pool. And also a pizza oven in the garden. Carlo the owner it's a very kind people and he booked for us the pick up service from the villa for airports and offers us for free a pizza party with a "pizzaiolo" that cooked for us pizza. Yummy! About the place: for me Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi, the town where the villa is it, is too much quiet, i'd prefer to stay in Sorrento a biz city with pubs, disco and young people. But it was a family holiday, so...

Unique Quality: Pool
Private parking
Sea view
Pizza oven
Barbecue area
Large garden
Excrusions and boat rental

O sole mio hotel: Near best walks and footpath of amalfi coast

we 're just coming back from Sorrento coast, in particular from Massa lubrense, there we stayed in Hotel o sole mio , 4 stars hotel, with a very good restaurant, and best of all, near a lot of beautiful panoramic walks, of Punta campanella, nerano bay, ieranto bay, path of gods, all described also on official website of the hotel.
for trekking and hiking lovers this place will be a discovery.

Unique Quality: the relax and quiet ambient of the hotel and rooms, far from chaotic traffic of sorrento

Porto Salvo: Quiet Hostel

We booked this place online. The website we booked it on made it seem like a hotel, so when we checked in we were disappointed to find it was actually a hostel. The main issue with that is that we had shared bathrooms (2 per floor). The room was decent, nothing special. It is right above the water, so there is a chance you will have a nice view from your room. For what we paid, we would have liked a little nicer place, but it was okay. If you're looking for a quiet place to relax, this could be alright. If you're looking to spend more time in downtown Sorrento, a place closer to downtown would be better, as this is at least a 30 minute walk from downtown.

Hotel Loreley: Great view

We spent just one night here. We had a sea view, which was great. The hotel is right on the cliff overlooking the water, and from our room on the corner, we had a gorgeous view of both the downtown and the sea.

The staff was friendly and the restaurant was nice.

The only problems we had were that the room had no television and no shower (just a tub with a hand-held sprayer). The TV was no big deal, but the shower wasn't very good at all.

Despite that, I would recommend the hotel. It was very affordable, and had a nice old charm about it.

Unique Quality: Great view (if you get a sea view room).

Village Nettuno: Village Nettuno @ Marina del Cantone

A camping/bungalow complex near the beach of Marina del Cantone, 50 mins bus from Sorrento bus/train station.

Bungalow has cooking facility and multiple rooms, like an apartment, however, there were a lot of bugs/mosquitos which made a good sleep almost impossible.

Marina del Cantone is a nice, quite place, however, very very small (no local residence) and is inconvenient if you want to travel to other parts of the Sorrento peninsula.

Unique Quality: direct access to the beach, 60 EUR for a 2 rooms apartment, without aircon and TV.

Don Alfonso 1890: Luxury Accommodations, Gourmet Dining

Don Alfonso 1890 is in Sant' Agata sui due Golfi, a half-hour drive from Sorrento on narrow, winding roads. (VT does not recognize the town's name.)

DA is primarily a restaurant. It offers, however, five suites for those who wish to spend the night. Since we were lodging in Vico Equense -- 40 minutes distant -- we chose not to try navigating the roads after what we knew would be a sumptuous dinner. (See my restaurant review, also under Sorrento.)

The suite we stayed in was, at €283, one of the less expensive. It included a small bedroom with abundant closet space, a dressing table, and a tiny balcony overlooking the town's main street; a large sitting room with sofa, chairs, tables, and TV set; and a good sized bathroom with tub/shower. A spiral staircase in the sitting room led to a private rooftop area that offered stunning views of the town and of the "two gulfs," those of Naples and Salerno.

A complimentary breakfast was served in the sitting room. It consisted of cheeses, cold meats, rolls with butter and jam, fruit, juice, tea, and coffee.

Unique Quality: After more than a week of showers only, my wife hugely appreciated soaking in the tub.

It is a very good idea to stay overnight in DA (unless you have accommodations elsewhere in or near Sant' Agata), especially if you enjoy a wine from the restaurant's cellar, which was first excavated in Etruscan times.
