More about Majestic Palace Hotel Sorrento
loved the Majestic Palace Hotel

There is a charming old world quality to the Majestic Palace Hotel. The people at the hotel were delightful, the food was very good and we liked the location - quiet in a Sorrento suburb. We had a room overlooking their orange grove in the back and loved sitting on the balcony seeing the mountains and ocean in the distance.
Great stay at Majestic Palace!
by TripAdvisor Member cwidman
My husband and I stayed at Majestic Palace from May 8 - 14. We couldn't have been more pleased with the hotel and service. Our room was quite large with a balcony and partial sea view. The bathroom was large and updated. The room had TONS of storage. We were pleased to stay in Sant Agnello instead of Sorrento since it is quieter and a quaint little town. We walked into Sorrento several times (back roads please) which only took about 20 minutes. The hotel breakfast was fantastic! Great coffee, hot and cold selections that kept us going until late afternoon each day. There is a great bar/restaurant at the end of the street called Bar Terraza that was our favorite. We went at sunset for a cocktail and had the most spectacular view of the coast. I would definitley stay at this hotel again and recommend to my friends and family.
Lovely time at the Majestic Palace
by TripAdvisor Member HoneymoonersCheshire
We had a lovely time at the Majestic Palace in Sorrento - it was perfect for our honeymoon. All the staff are very friendly. The restaurant is superb with a great choice of food - the Grand Buffet was amazing - we have never seen so much food! The lounge area is perfect for after dinner relaxation and the orange grove outside makes a lovely view. Room service was perfect - with beds turned down and little sweeties put on pillows at night! The hotel is a 20 minute walk from the centre of Sorrento - good if you want to avoid the noisy traffic and like a slightly less touristy location - handy for the local train station (to Naples, Pompei, central Sorrento etc.) and the hotel puts on courtesy buses in to town. A great holiday in all respects.
Peace and Relaxation
by TripAdvisor Member shazilou
The hotel is situated in a quiet residential area, which is "sleeping" from about 12pm - so its nite caps and beddy byes but this is fine as there's so much to see. The location is great platform to get to the busier Sorrento town centre (- not a 15 min walk as suggested by Antonio, but more like 35 mins. Maybe he meant as the crow flies!!), also Capri and the Amalfi Coast are easily accesible - we had a car, so really can't comment on other transport available - and yes we did take our lives into our own hands just a bit !! The driver had difficulty driving on the left hand side AND trying to smoke using their left hand. On the one occasion we did use a taxi - to get to the local train station on our way to Naples, we thought it was really expensive at 15euro when it turned out to be really only a short distance. So beware of inflated fares!!
The room was spotless, and well maintained, with maid service every day. The reception staff were very helpful - especially Roberta who could not have been any more accomodating. We tried local restaurants which were very reasonable and good food. We also had a balcony with fantastic views, and we enjoyed sitting relaxing outside with a few apperitifs before dinner in the evening, soaking up these views.
The amazing Amalfi coast is unbelievably breathtaking, and Capri is an absolute must if you're in this area - the cable chair lift to the top from Anacapri gives the most beautiful views you could wish to see.
Word of warning regarding Naples. We hopped onto the train which was almost an hour to Naples. Initially we were disappointed - it was smelly and filthy and looked like a very run down area, and then things got worse. Maybe because we were two females on our own, but we received A LOTof unwanted male attention - kerb crawlling in their cars. We began to feel very uneasy especially as some kept turning and going past again and again, so we decided to return to the haven that is Sorrento and, of course Hotel Majestic Palace. We both loved this experience and would return.
Nice feel aout it

Myself and my wife have just returned from a 2 week stay in this hotel.
We had a ground floor room which was extremely spcious it even had a setee and 2 large chairs also a communal patio area to sunbathe accesible through your french doors, also air con and sky tv.
Hotel staff were excellent, we stayed half board, the brekky is buffy style with meats and cheeses, breads etc and for all you traditionalists English brekky is also provided..Evening meal is a 4 course affair and excellent Thurs night is gala night where you have to be there for 1930 hrs prompt, its a candlelit dinner with a couple wandering about playing a guitar and mandolin... its very nice ..take your camera !
A couple of negative points, the bar is rather pricey and although the pool area is very nice with trees and shade etc there is a ltd amount of sunbeds and these get snatched by the towel brigade around sunrise ! so if you are predominately a sun worshipper and you like poolside life skip this hotel.
The hotel is in St Agnello just on the outskirts of Sorrento, its only a short bus ride away and i think its in an excellent position a distance from the madness of Sorrento, majestic palace is extremely clean and efficiently run, the staff even return to your room in the early evening to turn your bed covers over for you ,
If you`re on a package dont bother with the majority of their tours as most places are easily accesible via public transport...bus or train and these are very convenient to the hotel, reception staff will provide you with all the info you require and even bus tickets.
For a nice resonable meal turn right outside the hotel and 25 yds up the road on the left is Bar 13.. great value and good food, a nice wine bar is the "wine bar" in st Agnello square just to the right of the church..friendly service and not at all expensive.
For sunbathing turn left outside the hotel and walk straight down towards the sea about 5 mins, and either pay to take the lift down to the sunbathing area or walk for free through the cliff tunnels, you pay for your sunbed and brolly however the area is kept very clean and again is efficiently run plus the resturaunt is good value too. its a nice spot but gets very, very busy at the weekends.
Do the Amalfi coast drive but catch the 8.30 bus down in Sorrento as by the time it gets to st Agnello it will be full, its nice to catch the boat back from Amalfi to Sorrento..very relaxing.... in fact any trip you undertake.. go early in the morn as everywhere gets very busy in mid summer.
Do go to Capri...boat from port Piccola..once in Capri at the harbour take the venicular up to the shopping area, from there you can catch a bus to Anna Capri..more shops and resturaunts but better views and from there take the chair lift to the summit for some great views...its a must do.. its a 12 min ride up and a 12 min ride down.. brilliant.
Capri can be pricey but some resturaunts are reasonable, we had an excellant value meal in Anna Capri... use your loaf and check out the prices before you order.
Do Pompei on the train..great...very hot..not as hot as in 79A.D though but still take some water and go early its only a few quid on the train and around £5 to £7 to get in.
Also went to Monte Cassino and Casserta ..great places too ..had to go with the tour company on these though .. couldn`t find how to do it independently but it was a decent price.. worth a visit,
So hotel majestic palace is good and makes a great base for seeing the surrounding area.. enjoy !
wonderful hotel
by TripAdvisor Member wilsey
Just spent a week here. The hotel is immaculate and the rooms are great. The staff were all extremely helpful and always smiling. It is in a very convenient location with the beach 300m in one direction and the bus stop into Sorrento at the other end of the road. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Some rooms are below ground level so it is worth paying for a room with a balcony.
nice hotel shame about the noise
by TripAdvisor Member banditboy
The hotel itself is good, good food, good staff the only thing we found a real issue was the noise - not from cars or alike, but the building itself, a concrete structure, adorned with marble gives no sound insulation at all, any noise travels around the building with little reduction. Maybe we were unlucky to have a room of tap dancers above us and furniture removal people to one side who seemed to come alive after normal people would want to sleep, and why is it Germans always meet for their trips in the corridors and stairways.
The sleep deprivation would stop us from re visiting.
Magical, beautiful hotel
by TripAdvisor Member jessasfella
What a beautiful hotel. Although it's not that old, it feels very old-world and it has the charm that comes with it.
The rooms were roomy and clean. We had a view overlooking the city and the Bay of Naples, but those in our group who had garden views liked them very much as well. The balconies were wonderful. We weren't there in the summer, but the pool looked very inviting, and I found myself wishing for a warm evening to spend by the pool drinking wine.
We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel, and both were fantastic. The single best thing I've eaten in my life was the tiramisu in the hotel restaurant. The service was great.
There's no internet access, but finding an internet cafe wasn't hard.
All in all, this was our favorite hotel out of the 4 we stayed at in Italy. It's a magical place.
