Shopaholics - hear ye! Head straight to VIA SAN CESAREO for some superb Italian crafts and local specialities. To destress later (when you realized to your utter horror that you had busted your credit limit on your credit cards), you may wish to enjoy a sightseeing tour in a horse drawn carrozza. We joined a half day city tour (on our 2nd visit in 2002) which brought us to PIAZZA TASO, the town square where you can find a number of shops selling embroidered goods and intarsia (wood inlay) work, both popular items from this region. The tradition of inlay woodwork in Sorrento dates back many centuries and is characterized by its lacy design sometimes used in furniture.
