Comfortable family-run hotel

This is a really charming place to spend a couple of nights. The rooms are clean, comfortable and spacious, it's calm and peaceful and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. The hotel has its own restaurant which serves good local food and pizzas so you don't have to venture far if you don't feel like it.

Breakfast is included in the price and pretty good. Great mozzarella balls in particular.

Internet access is free. The guests' computer was down when we visited and so I was able to use the one on reception. Plenty of information on the area at reception too.

There are a few things to be aware of, however. La Terrazza is not in Cisternino proper, but a village called Casalini di Cisternino. There's nothing of any note in Casalini, though there is a good shop if you want to stock up on picnic food. You'll need to take buses to get to Cisternino if you don't have a car (and most guests do), buying a ticket in the newspaper shop on the main street. The hotel has full bus timetables for Cisternino as well as Ostuni and further afield. The train station, meanwhile, is in neither Cisternino nor Casalini, despite its name. We paid EUR 30 for a taxi to the hotel!

The other thing is that the pool is not located at the hotel. There is a shuttle service (just ask at reception) but the idea is that you'll spend at least a couple of hours up there. 'Up' as it's on a hill apparently. We'd booked the hotel on the strength of the pool, wanting somewhere for a dip after being out in the sun, but didn't end up going as we didn't have the time for a extended visit. Disappointing. Not a problem if you have a car, however, and other guests told us that the pool was lovely and secluded.

The hotel also boasts beauty and massage treatments though I didn't try these.

Although we didn't make it to the pool, we were pleased with the hotel and would return. It's a great place for relaxing with a number of fascinating places to visit nearby.
