stroll through Deiva Marina
by MATIM
When Chiara (VT Pollon) visit us at the camping, she told us she really like to see Deiva Marina because she spend there the holidays with her parents when she was a child.
The distance from the camping to the centre was about 3 km and about a 45 minutes walk, so we decide to take the bus that came regular at the different campings to transport the tourists to the centre.
Hubby and kids spend most of the time at the beach, while Chaira and I looked for places that she remembered from the times she spend her holiday here.
I loved her enthusiasm, and was very happy she had such a good time.
It was great spending the afternoon with her in Deiva Marina, thank you very much Chiara!
Yahtzee

an idea for nightlife not only in Deiva but in any camping could be playing Yahtzee, expecially if you are in the Dutch ghetto as I nicknamed it ;-), but in a tender way as it was really pleasant to be there and I'm really, really happy that Maaike, who won the game, introduced it to me...
Deiva Marina 2006

Deiva Marina is an attractive little seaside town, located between Portofino and the Cinque Terra, which are both easily reached by train.
It's not a town where much is happening, so don't stay here if you want nightlife.
back to the future...

when a kid, had you also a usual holiday destination which you remember like a wonderful, impressive place, which in your mind is huge and superb even if is it's in reality one of the smallest villages???...
And have you ever gone to it again... what was your impression of it as a grown up???...
I hadn't seen Deiva Marina for about 35 years and... I wasN'T disappointed at all!!!
Not to mention when I looked for the place where I bought one of my best liked buns, the krapfen, for the afternoon snack: the shop was still there but when I asked for a krapfen, a nice lady told me they hadn't... so I mentioned her my story and she said that probably "she" had sold me those krapfen, that she had had that business for 40 years and that when I was a kid, they made bread and krapfen... she is the smiling lady of my pic...
and it's this lady, Ilse, aka MATIM for VT, who brought me here after so many years...
I should probably apologize for all my enthusiasm for such a small place which offers you just quitness and that can be a good base to see the Ligurian east coast or reach some of the Tuscany towns or for a touch and go in Genoa... but it was part of my childhood and it was my paradise when I was 5 years old...
anyway it's the lady on the right in the pic, Ilse and her hubby, on the left, and Maaike and Tim who were the reason why my afternoon back to the future was so wonderful...
