by ZiOOlek

What is the best way to get from Bologna airport to Florence? Any advice? Cost of ticets?

http://www.trenitalia.com/en/index.html

You can take the local Italian trains. The website address is listed above.. Depending on what stations you go to it should be around 15 Euros one way on second class. 21 on first class.

Cheers

Is this train going directly from the airport to Florence or should I go to Bologna centre first?

I'm not too sure about that as i havent been to Bologna but i believe that most major Italian airports have a train station somewhere nearby. You can actually check out the website and have a look. Alternatively, look up the airport information of the airport you're landing at. They should have travelling directions to the nearest train station. then once u have the station name u can book the tickets using the trenitalia website.

I'll be in Italy too in about 6 weeks. Am travelling from Rome to a small town called castelraimondo, so i've found that trains are the cheapest form of travel. I'll be visiting Florence too so maybe when u're there u could recommend me some good places to see :)

cheers

Arcades

by Polly74

Bologna is the premier city of arcades. Most buildings in the older part of the city have arcades, providing protected passages throughout the city, except at intersections. (It is actually possible to continue arcades across intersections, and this is sometimes done.)

When your young one will get tired of walking (his dad wouldn't mind to go on, right dad?) darling mum can put him into this children train.
There are a lot more 'Salle di giocco' as Italians call amusment parks... Just have fun! Mum, if you please to ride that plastic cammel in your long evening dress, just be my guest! Amusment park will get one more atraction :-))

Unfortunatelly I don't remember its name.It is one of the restaurants placed near to the center in the slim street. Not perceptible from outside this place was found as a famose restaurant with an excellent cousine.Placido Domingo, our russian opera singer Shalyapin and a lot of other known people were here.I will scan the photo taken there and place here soon. I still can't forget tortellini with truffles and this region specific wine-as if red champagne, then fresh blackberries,sweet,tasty...I will come back there and tell you the name of the restaurant.

The best for a romantic evening!

by ludogatto about La Torre di Iano

The palce is magic, on a nice little valley near Sasso Marconi, 10 km from Bologna...it's a ancient borguoise mansion (1884), built on a medieval structure, with a great big terrace face to the valley where u can eat in the summer, but in the winter u can dining in front of the firepalce.
And if u want to stop here they have also rooms. The cuisine is refined, bolongese and particular dishes with a special attention to a new way to prepare them and to the season products, the cellar is perfect and also the service and the ambience....when I want to give me a present I dine here!

If u want somethin more easy go to Osteria di Colle Ameno

Piazza Neptuno

by Mundus

A popular meeting point for Bolognesi, specially for students.

In order to make room for this statue and to the square bearing the same name, in 1564 a whole block of houses was pulled down, between d'Accursio Palace and King Enzo Palace.

The statue was designed by Tommaso Laureti, from Palermo. It is adorned the with sculptures by the Flemish artist Jean Boulogne de Douai, called Giambologna.
