Re: bologna rental apartment

Last May we stayed in the Residenze Miramonte which was excellent. We had a large kitchen/ dining/living room, plus a sleeping loft and a bathroom. It was very clean and well-maintained and was cleaned every third day. Our apartment was at the back of the building and had a small balcony and views over the roofs. Very quiet. Excellent location in that we could walk 5 minutes to catch the local bus, or walk about 12 minutes to the Plaza Maggiorre. Grocery, bread, etc. shops just five minutes away, also the best ice cream shop in Bologna!! The owner/manager speaks excellent English and he and his wife are only to pleased to help or assist. Can't remember off-hand who we rented through but I'll have a look in my files and get back to you. You can, if you are interested, also look them up on Google. The site we rented through was the cheapest. The found both the accommodation and the location to be excellent.

We rented through www.bbplanet.it Absolutely no probs at all, everything went like clockwork.

Sorry, it's me again - although the Residenze Miramonte appears to be a B&B, it also rents apartments! We were there for three weeks. Btw, our apartment number was 6.

Another view of Maggiore square.
Just try to visit the city in a better day than this one, true, Bologna is eary to visit even with rain cause of its many portics, but you sure enjoy it more in a sunny day.

CAFE LE PALAIS

by Azhut about Bars/pubs

The real fashion cafý in Bologna becuase it's located in front of the clothing shop "Cafý de palais". It looks like an art-gallery cafý with pictures on the walls. It has also a privý that you can rent for your meeting or special parties (it costs 100 euros per hour). A casual style is quite good during the afternoon but at night tie is required :-)

you can't find this ANYWHERE else, trust me

by marycm about La Tua Piadina

oh my lord, I miss this place more than anywhere else. they make the local specialty, piadina, which is a type of sandwich or wrap, I suppose. This place is tiny, tucked away - you won't find it in any guide book, but all the locals know about it and chances are when you go it will be absolutely packed. the stracchino and rucola piadina. just trust me. gooey cheese and fresh rucola (related to lettuce).

Italian cuisine is great. In Bologna you find a lot of good trattoria, osteria, pizzeria...It's hard to choose the best one. To have a great cappucino just go to The University Quarter. You'll find here hundrets of the charming cafes.

Soccer!!!

by alemir82

Have a feeling that your Italian is much too academic? You should have no trouble enriching your vocabulary at the one of the local football matches. You are sure to learn the latest and greatest of insults, and songs directed towards the referees and the opposite team. As I tend to support Inter, I was particularly amused by the Inter Ultras chant of "tortellini e pompini" against the Bologna fans. Just remember two simple words Forza Bologna and you should come out just fine. Despite the sometimes pernicious atmosphere, a Sunday spent at the stadium is usually a good time.
