Giardini Margherita

This is bologna's main park and provides the perfect place to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Created in 1875, the garden has much on offer to see and enjoy, including an oak woodland area; avenues lined with trees; pathways with many places to sit relax; and a small lake.

Maranello

The town of Maranello is located 49km west of Bologna, and is famous for being the birth place of Ferrari. The town is home to the Ferrari factory and museum, and everywhere you look you see people walking about in their Ferrari overalls (factory workers I hope!).
Alex is a big fan of Ferrari's and I am not adverse to any shiny sports cars, so we made a visit to Maranello a top priority on our Sep 2006 Italy trip.
The highlight of a visit to Maranello is Galleria Ferrari, which is a museum charting the history of Ferrari. Here you can get right up close to a large range of shiny Ferraris and decide which one you want for Christmas ; )
Also, make sure you take a wander around town as you are sure to see a new Ferrari or two coming in/out of the factory.

I noticed some buses driving around, but all the people (included me) were comming with their cars (motorhomes).
Try walking, cycling (there are very nice four wheels bicyces to be rent for 7 EUR per day), dont use your car if it's not necessary.

It was a long time I would go there...friday I was in the city center and all my prefered restaurant was full cause there was the Motorshow fair... a little tour and i remembered this place..now is renovated and it's little but warm...here u can meet some heldier eating a tortellini plate or some businessman...people that want to well eat with resonable price. Tortellini, tortelloni, passatelli, lasagne are the main course, after u can choose on rabbit or Polpettone ( meet rollè boiled) or meet balls with peas...all are made with the meat that need to make the buillon (brodo) fro the tortellini and passatelli.

We make our own way to the Church of St Stephen. It is like three churches joined together. Old, it has a beehive-tomb domed baptistery type building attached, a cloister, all with the remains of wall paintings. It is of the soft red brick that seems popular here, the colour of the local earth.
The route to San Stephano had taken us through a small side street that contained a wonderful local market, cheeses galore, huge chunks of Parmesan, and seriously large buffalo mozzarella, good fruit and vegetables and fish.
It is a chance to see the real city, away from the touristic centre.
