At the end of October the weather is becaming cold and raining. 25 degree are to much for that time of the year!!!

For the accomodation have a lool to booking.com or venere.com; there you can find a good choice of hotels.

Travel Tips for Bologna

Piazza Maggiore

by croisbeauty

Piazza Maggiore represents the heart of the town; its ancient buildings and glorious history make the square one of the greatest throughout Italy. It is the best possible starting point for exploring the old core of Bologna. I still remember well my first visit to Bologna, which was long ago, and the sensation I felt when getting on this square. So many beautiful buildings on the one square only cannot be seen in too many towns.

Santuario della Madonna di San Luca

by vysnaite

It's a place you see on the hill a little bit "outside" Bologna. Apart the santuary itself that's worth seeing from the parking of the top you can see quite a nice panorama of Bologna.

You can climb up the Santuary using the steps and a long wall that brings you up the hill, but that's advisable only if you are crazy hiker or smth (personal opinion), anyway, the long "tail" or otherwise a wall brings you up the hill and it's a lovely view to enjoy from a car for a lazy person like me :). This masterpiece was born in 18th century and originaly we should thank it's architector Carlo Francesco.

N.B. Parking is also know well for couples who like making love there, but still if you're interested in panorama of a city from above it shouldn't bother you.

Central Railway Station of Bologna

by Pakistaniguy

Here you would be arriving if u plan to use Trains as mean of transportation. There is a busy bus stand just on the right and left side of this railway station. I was very lucky to get the pic when the bus was not coming ;-)

cured meats, regional wines

by marktynernyc about Tamburini Enoteca

If you don't want to eat at the Tamburini cafeteria - this enoteca is right next door. They serve various cured meats and cheeses from the region and a wide variety of wines by the glass. My sample platter had lardo, salamis, proscuitto and culatello. For dessert I tried a half portion of cheeses. A great introduction to the cuisine of the region. the lardo.

Climb the steps of Torre delgi Asinelli

by MarvintheMartian

Just in case you are keeping count this is the fourth of the big towers in Italy (after Cremona, Siena and Venice). The tower is 97 metres tall and has fantastic views of the city (see the photo on the introduction page). Entrance fee is about €3.
