Budget hotel near the city center...

by Maurizioago

Could you recommend one? This should be near the city center or near the train station. I can spend around 50 euros per night for a single room.

Thanks!

Jolly Hotel is nota a budget Hotel, it depends how much is your budget! the room rates depends on the period cause Bologna is a city of fair and congress, but you can find a lot of accomodation near the station...avoid the big hotel, like Regina, not renoved and the rpice is not right to the room and confrot, there are also a lot of bed and breakfast you cna find on the net...I dont' know the period you need the room, but if you try to find something that you agree reply me and I give you my opinion on the location, price/hotel and more...the hotel in front of the station and in the nearby are good but the area is not the best.....the station is 5 minutes walking to the historic center and you can find good acomodation.

Corpus Domini

by croisbeauty

The church and the monastery of Corpus Domini is situated somewhere at the end of via D'Azeglio. Actually, it is a female monastery founded by Santa Caterina De Vigri, and was built in 1456. The Saint was born in Bologna and her body and important manuscripts are still preserved in the ornate cellar. The doorway of the church is in particularly beautiful and very well preserved.

Train

by xaver

Bologna is one of the most important train stations in Italy, you can go there by train from many italian and european cities.
There is also an airport.
Many busses like for example eurolines (www.eurolines.com) connect Bologna to the most important european cities
Walking or biking (Romagna is popular for people using often bicycles) is the best way to visit Bologna, to move from Bologna to other italian cities....check the many train connections (www.trenitalia.it)

Bologna cuisine is a must taste

by croisbeauty about cafe-bar

They call it "la grassa", because it has probably the best cuisine in Italy. It is not easy to resist and taste one of local dishes fo famous and not in Italy only. I cannot eat much in a hot day, especially if lunch time. Not tasting the cuisine of Bologna is like visiting Vatican and not see the Pope. The fact is, I didn't stay in Bologna, it was just a day-trip from Treviso.
In such a hot days my recipe is to take "prosciutto con melone", light and refreshing dish which I like alot.

A Most Unusual Statue in a Most Interesting Bldg

by SESM

Visit the Nat'l Library in Bologna. The Anatomy Theater is fascinating. There's a table in the center for the cadavres and a statue "stripped" down to the muscles. The whole building, part of a medieval university, is interesting with student coats of arms painted on the ceilling and beautiful architectural details.
