Forli airport to Bologna?

by jdm267

Is it possible to take a train or is the bus the best way to go?

Re: Forli airport to Bologna?

by mccalpin

As always, the airport's website gives you this information - see http://www.bologna-airport.it/template/contenuto.asp?IDFolder=197&LN=UK

Note that the bus from the airport to the train station is fundamentally a bus from the airport to the city center, as the main train station is on the edge of the city center. There is no train from the airport to the city center (since the main train station is only 6 kilometers from the airport - well, seemed farther to me, but they're both on the same end of town). So, take the bus...

OK?

Oh, $$#@!!**&!!!m I just reread your posting and saw that you are coming in to Forli airport...oh, dear...

Look at the bottom (waaaay down) of http://www.forliairport.com/main/index.php?id_pag=264 - this will give you the times for the bus from the airport to the train station in Bologna...note that this is not everyday - I assume that these times are timed with the arrivals of discount airline flights...

Alternatively, you would have to take a local bus from Forli airport to Forli train station, take a train from there to Bologna, then walk into the city center from the Bologna train station (not too far - 15 minutes).

See if the bus works for you first...

Travel Tips for Bologna

Porta Zamboni

by croisbeauty

Porta Zamboni is situated at the end of the ononimous street, just about 100 meters from the University building. It was part of "Torresotti" , the 11th century walls surrounding the city centre and consisting of eighteen entrances. The gateway itself is well preserved while the walls were pulled down.

Shopping Via D'Azeglio

by Azhut about various names.....

Whenever you are in Bologna you cannot leave without spending a few hours in Via D'Azeglio: renamed "the living room" by the Bolognese, the street leads to the most important square in the city (Piazza Maggiore) and offers the possibility of taking a timeless stroll in a completely pedestrian area; the elegant atmosphere of Via D'Azeglio is due to the beautiful palaces from the Bologna Renaissance period that act as a backdrop to the most important stores in the city. While you stroll down Via D'Azeglio you can take in a cocktail and friendly conversation or stop in front of the elegant boutique windows. Via D' Azeglio offers its guests a synthesis of Bologna.

Very Friendly

by bonio about Giubilo

Looking for a mid afternoon meal, we stumbled accross this one. It was a Monday and quiet but we were made very welcome. So salad and pizza freshly cooked in wood burning oven for everyone, superb, even managed a dessert too. Good food, several glasses of wine, we enjoyed ourselves.

Gelateria delle Moline - cheap & tasty ice cream

by sue_stone about Gelateria delle Moline

On our first visit to Bologna we sampled the ice cream from Gelateria delle Moline. This small gelateria is located close to the 'University district' and is therefore popular with students, as evidenced on our visit there. It is also nice and cheap which is of course another plus for students. There is a decent selection of flavours here, including some good fruity ones. If you need something savoury before your sweet treat they also sell a range of flatbread sandwiches. They also sell intriguing sounding gelato sandwiches.

We stuck to stock standard ice cream - two scoops each in a small cup. I had the hazelnut and coconut and Alex had the chocolate and pistachio. Mmmmm.....good!

Bologna main sight

by Fra.da.

Le due torri stand just in the middle of Bologna. These medioeval towers look really great! The bigger one is named "Asinelli", while the smallest one is called "Garisenda". You can climb the Asinelli one, the ticket costs 3 € and the view from above is really stunning: from there you can see real "Bologna La Rossa", which means "reddish" Bologna, reddish because of the red roofs covering all the buildings.
