Maranello - Home of Ferrari

The town of Maranello is located 17km south of Modena, and is famous for being the birth place of Ferrari. The town is home to the Ferrari factory and museum, and everywhere you look you see people walking about in their Ferrari overalls (factory workers I hope!).
Alex is a big fan of Ferrari's and I am not adverse to any shiny sports cars, so we made a visit to Maranello a top priority on our Sep 2006 Italy trip.

If you are visiting the Modena area in Northern Italy and are a Ferrari fan, you owe it to yourself to take a detour through Maranello.
Maranello is in Emilia Romagna 18 km south of Modena on the provincial road No. 3 also known as Via Giardini.
Maranello is home to the Ferrari organization including the Fiorano test track and the Galleria Ferrari The Galleria is where racing cars from Ferrari's glorious racing history and present day dream machines are exhibited.
So intrinsically tied is Ferrari to the town of Maranello that in 2001 Luca di Montezemolo, President of Ferrari, named the marque's latest car the: Ferrari 550 Maranello.

"The red car with the horse"
Maranello is famous exclusively as the place where the Ferraris are manufactured. You have never seen one? It is easy to recognize. First it is almost always red and second it shows its logo with the horse. If you see a red car with a horse: it is a Ferrari!
