Galleria Ferrari

by wen24j

I would like views on how worthwhile it is to visit the Ferrari Museum in Maranello. Have you been ? What did you think? I'ts a little out of our way but will visit if well worth it and could include Modena and Bologna.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

I visited the Ferrari Museaum last July, near Bologna. It displays about 20 F1 cars from the past 50 years or so, showing the changes in technology. To be honest, unless you are a F1 fan, it is not breath-taking - I am indifferent to the cars. They have an extensive gift shop - the prices are outrageous for merchandise. Nice Ferrari rstaurant across the street, with good food, as you wuld expect in Italy.
If you are a F1 fan, absolutely do go. If not, I wouldn't go out of my way to see it,
have a great holiday,

not only Formula 1 racing car, but nearly every Ferrari built in the past (even prototypes that never entered the market) should be on display.
Have you looked here? http://www.galleria.ferrari.com/galleria/index.htm?language=ENGLISH

Thanks for replies. Not a huge fan but figured it might be worth a look from a guys point of view if we stopped in Modena on our way to Florence. We were deciding whether to hire car from Modena, and do the Ferrari thing, or train it straight to Florence and hire car from there.

Cheers.

it's not so easy with public transport to go to Maranello (Ferrari) from Modena. The public transport of Modena http://www.atcm.mo.it tickets must be bought before.
About the restaurant... there are other better (and cheaper) restaurant, not far from there, at Ubersetto crossing for example.

Travel Tips for Maranello

Maranello - Home of Ferrari

by sue_stone

The town of Maranello is located 17km south of Modena, and is famous for being the birth place of Ferrari. The town is home to the Ferrari factory and museum, and everywhere you look you see people walking about in their Ferrari overalls (factory workers I hope!).

Alex is a big fan of Ferrari's and I am not adverse to any shiny sports cars, so we made a visit to Maranello a top priority on our Sep 2006 Italy trip.

Ferrari Country

If you are visiting the Modena area in Northern Italy and are a Ferrari fan, you owe it to yourself to take a detour through Maranello.

Maranello is in Emilia Romagna 18 km south of Modena on the provincial road No. 3 also known as Via Giardini.

Maranello is home to the Ferrari organization including the Fiorano test track and the Galleria Ferrari The Galleria is where racing cars from Ferrari's glorious racing history and present day dream machines are exhibited.

So intrinsically tied is Ferrari to the town of Maranello that in 2001 Luca di Montezemolo, President of Ferrari, named the marque's latest car the: Ferrari 550 Maranello.

"The red car with the horse"

Maranello is famous exclusively as the place where the Ferraris are manufactured. You have never seen one? It is easy to recognize. First it is almost always red and second it shows its logo with the horse. If you see a red car with a horse: it is a Ferrari!
