Apart from the architecture of the buildings themselves, Modena is filled with lots of lovely aesthetic detailing such as you see in the elaborate curves of the wrought-iron gate shown in this image here... Just wandering the old city at random, you can stumble upon many such delights...! Italy's design tradition stretches back thousands of years, and it's wonderful to see the various aesthetic layers from different eras, combined together...
