San Felice Sul Panaro

by arrege

Hi there,

I will be in San Felice on JUne 30 and July 1 to see a friend.

How hard is it to get a bus from San Felice to Milan (and return) for the day?

Are there trains serving this route?

Thanks
Arrege

RE: San Felice Sul Panaro

There are trains to San Felice. The trip to Milan may take 2 and half to 3 hours, because you have change train in Bologna. The trip to and from Bologna takes about 40 minutes, and the trains are frequent, but it takes about two hours from Bologna to Milan.
If you want to visit a city, or are interested in shopping, Bologna has much to offer.

Travel Tips for Modena

by PartyRambo

In Maranello, opposite the Ferrari factory, sits the Bar Cavallino - where many drivers, executives and other factory personnel take their lunch.
It might even be possible to find a discarded napkin with hand-drawn designs for a new model... but that may only be wishful thinking... :>

Fiorano race track

by boggild

When you enter Maranello from Modena the first thing you see is the Fiorano race track. The track is used for testing of Ferrari F1 racers as well as other cars from the group.

You'll not be in doubt if the F1 is testing when you're there - you can hear the distinctive sound of the racer all over the town.

The best places to watch the track from is on via Abetone Inferiore just when you enter the town.

Chiesa di San Domenico

by mikey_e

The Chiesa di San Domenico is not all that hard to find if you are wandering about the city close to the Via Emilia. This church was built between 1708 and 1731 and contains another terracotta sculpture by Begarelli (there is one in the Duomo). Although no one is certain, it is believed that this work of art represents Jesus in the House of Martha. Still, it is a great photo opportunity to capture the reddish-pink stone so characteristic of this city.

Palazzo Comunale

by mikey_e

The Palazzo Comunale is an agglomeration of several buildings from the 11th and 12th centuries that was completed in the 17th century. The impressive clock-tower dates from the end of the 1400s, as the original tower was destroyed in 1671 by a earthquake. The best part of the Palazzo Comunale is the Sala del Fuoco which is actually a series of paintings by dell'Abate of the seige of Modena in 44 BCE. I didn't enter the Palazzo Comunale, so I'm not sure when or where you can tour the grounds.

Tempio Monumentale

by mikey_e

The Tempio Monumentale is a memorial to those who died in WWI built in 1929 by the architects Casanova and Barbanti. Although it is on the outskirts of the city and in the rather bizarre eclectic style, it is nonetheless interesting as another one of those monuments that sought to blend the Fascist régime's ideology with Italy's architectural grandeur (since it is, after all, clustered with the Palazzo Ducale and the Garden).
