Hotel Idea: 8 story hotel on periferia

We found this hotel on the internet and it offered a good price with breakfast. We will stay here again when we visit Modena.
The hotel was efficient, clean, had parking, Sky tv, was out of the city near the shopping center.

Unique Quality: We had an 8th story view of Modena and also farming area. The breakfast was large, eggs, bacon, brioche, cereals, fruit, and barrista made coffees.
This hotel is a bargain for budget minded travelers.

Hotel Idea: Close to the Modena fair

I was looking for an hotel close to Modena center and I found this one online. It was offered in the most common hotel bookings site but I checked their own site and they offer a better rate if you book a week ahead and non refundable.
The hotel is close to the Autostrada exit called Modena Nord, near Modena fair and the main shopping center. It could be better to use a GPS to find it because the road to reach it is a little tricky but the hotel is a tall 8 story building painted white and it is hard to miss as everything else in the area is quite flat.
We payed 51 euros for a double room with a big bed and a couch. The room was spacious and had phone and Sky TV. There is air conditioning or heater that can be controlled from each room.
The bathroom was adeguate with shower, hairdrier and toiletteries.
Breakfast is served from 7 to 11am in the restaurant at the first floor. It is a buffet style and it have a good selection of bread, home made cakes, croissant, jam, honey, nutella, cheese, salami and tomatoes, fruit and scrambled eggs with bacon.
The coffee or other hot beverage are served at the table and made from a professional bar coffee machine, not the common automatic machine. The waiters were willing to help and make the customer happy, the came back over and over to ask if we wanted more coffee, another cappuccino etc.
The restaurant works also for lunch and dinner if you don't feel like going out to explore Modena restaurant but we didn't used it so I can't speak about their quality.

Unique Quality: Good position to reach either the center or anything, perhaps Modena is a pretty compact town.
Great Breakfast. Cleanliness of the room/bathroom, courtesy and efficiency of the concierge and waiters. Free parking. Wide windows for light and air.

Hotel San Geminiano: Lovely People Own This

We landed up here without a reservation which is my thing-I like to leave things up to chance-and luckily they had one room left.
I had read about this hotel in The Lonely Planet guide book.
We were given the key to a very large room with 3 beds in the front of the hotel.
Breakfast is included as well as free parking-always a bonus.

Unique Quality: The "guard" dog must be 96 years old. I am only kidding he was a good old beast who likes to lie in the hallway. Just step over him.

Hotel San Geminiano: 2 Star Hotel, close to the centre

We first visited Modena in Sep 2002, but only as a day trip from Bologna. When we returned in Sep 2006 we wanted to stay overnight so we could get a better feel for this lovely town.

As we had a car, I wanted to stay somewhere with easy, secure parking, and when I read about Hotel San Geminiano it sounded just what we were after.

Unique Quality: Hotel San Geminiano is a 2 star hotel located only 10 minutes walk from the centre of Modena. It is a friendly family run place, with basic, decent size rooms and that all important private parking.

Our room was on the 2nd floor and had a cute little balcony. It was all pretty basic, though comfortable enough and fine for a one night stay. The bathroom could have been a bit cleaner… but I've seen worse.

The room was 78 euro including breakfast and parking.

Gran Paradiso: Nice hotel outside Modena

In search of a hotel not to far away from Sant'Agata Bolognese (hometown of Lamborghini) we found this wonderfull little hotel, located very close to "in the middle of f...... nowhere". The hotel is app. 25 kilometers northeast of Modena.

Very nice hotel, very big room and very good breakfast (fantastic after the Italian standard).

I stayed in San Filippo Neri...

I stayed in San Filippo Neri as a student.

They have since opened a hostel next door where you can shared dorms of 3-4 people.
The last time I went (2000) it was going to cost L24,000

Unique Quality: The hostel is clean and very central. Remo, the caretaker is sweet, he is very Italian and speaks only Italian but is always happy to help.

It is right on top of a primary school so no long lies but everything in Modena is walking distance from here - there is a lovely bar on the way from here to to university where you can get a great chocolate croissant OOOZING with nutella!
