Piazza del Duomo is the artistic jewel of Parma, since it includes the city's greatest monuments, namely the Duomo and the Battistero ("Baptistry"), as well as the Palazzo del Vescovado ("Bishop's Palace").Due to this concentration of medieval architecture, the local and national administrations are pushing for the square to be included in UNESCO's World Heritage List.
