Venetian elegance in the heart of Ravenna
The worst thing about Albergo Cappello is that it is difficult to find. There is a discreet bronze plaque but you have to be looking for it. Because it is located within the "pedestrian zone" you need to unload your car (parking is available at two garages a few blocks away), but once you arrive...the inn has seven delightful rooms to welcome the tired tourist. We stayed in two of these, and the fittings were on the palatial side. Very posh, indeed. The "tower" room looked out on one of the several leaning towers in the town, and featured a deep tub with an elaborate shower apparatus. (I found it was ideal to do my laundry!) The Blue room was even nicer -- beautifully decorated ceilings, and only a few steps away from the sumptuous breakfast which comes with the room rate. Albergo Cappella also has a restaurant which serves both lunch and dinner, but as we did not sample the food, I can only state that the customers always seemed well-satisfied and the dishes looked lovely.
Unique Quality: The albergo is an old, historic building, reconstructed in 1998 as a guest house. Some of the desk staff speak excellent English and were very helpful in making arrangements with other inns on our route.
Art books were available in the spacious hall leading to the guests' dining room.
Conference facilities are available, with rooms to accommodate up to twenty (Salotto Rosa), or up to 100 (Sala Marinara).
