Farm Holiday just 20 min. from town
As I live in Reggio Emilia, I have never experienced a stay in a hotel but some English friends of me did last month and found it simply marvellous. The building is more than a century old and was the manor house of a rich agricolture enterprise founded by a baron, called Franchetti, falled in love with the spectacular hilly environment. There are some rooms (not many) and a top quality restaurant. In summer you can dine on a very romantic terrace with a breathtaking view of the hills. The owner of the Agriturismo is a family which, as it has been owner of a traditional hotel downtown (Hotel Posta) for generation, has a great experience in welcoming tourists, especially those who love accurancy and tradition. The location is very beautiful; it takes just 20-30 minutes to reach the old town center by car.
There you can find nich walking paths or ask to the owner for mountain bikes to discover how hills can be beautiful.
The farm is still operating, producing its own Traditional Balsamic Vinegar. Do not miss the opportunity to visit their terrific Acetaia, the place where the barrels have to stay to let the vinagar to bacame, year after year, this blessed-by-God unique dressing. A propos, traditional balsamic vinegar was born in Reggio Emilia, not in Modena!!!
If you dine in the restaurant, do not miss the "maialino da latte" (very young pig)
