Train information
by reese096
Hi,
We need to travel from Rimini to Milan in the next couple of days. Im stuck finding out there are many types of trains to take...I thought there was only Europe Rail which gave many options...but I didnt see them in the train station we came in from Ancona to Rimini. What's the best way by train to get to Milan...Europe Rail or other...Europe Rail also does not allow access to schedules and costs within 2 days of travel...what's up with that??
Thanks for the help,
M.

The fare is €30.40 one way per person and the journey times cary between 2 hours 30 and 3 hours 30. The trains are regular and go directly to Milan.
More information can be found at

Raileurope is a ticket agent, not a train operator.

As you can see from the other answers, the national operator of the railroads in Italy is "Ferrovie dello Stato", (also called "FS" or "Trenitalia"). While there are some private railroads in Italy, you won't run across them in Rimini to Milan.
So, look at the trenitalia website and find solutions for Rimini to Milan. These are all trains run by Trenitalia (or the FS, same thing), but there are likely to be several different types. The faster ones are more expensive and are likely to require reservations in advance, although you can get them within 5 minutes of departure at the station is there is room on the train. That is, the requirement for reservations simply means that they won't sell more tickets than seats.
Note that there is unlikely to be a single regional train that runs all this way (they're called "regional" trains for a good reason), but if you play with the schedule some, you may find a series of regional trains, like Rimini to Bologna, Bologna to Parma, and Parma to Milan (these are just a guess on my part(!)). I suggest this only if you have plenty of time, because this will be cheaper...but if time is a factor, then a faster, more expensive train is the way to go...
As noted, don't bother with the RailEurope website; it has significant restrictions and is likely to cost you more anyway...

Travel Tips for Rimini
Borgo San Giuliano
by PetraG
After crossing the old town centre on Corso d'Augusto as far as the Ponte di Tiberio, take a look at the Marecchia river park to the north and at the port canal to the south, then enter the medieval district of San Giuliano.
A series of narrow alleys form a labyrinth in which even the locals often get lost.
But it doesn't matter if you do because on every street corner you can admire murals dedicated to the life and films of the great film director Federico Fellini.
The murals were painted by local artists on the elegant small houses carefully looked after and decorated with flowers. Every two years the unmissable street festival "Festa de Borg" is held.
If you wish to continue the Fellini theme, you can walk on to the town cemetery not too far away in Via Cipressi where Fellini and his wife Giulietta Masini are buried under the monument "La Grande Prua" in the form of a sail by the sculptor Arnaldo Pomodoro.
