When many people think ýItalian cinemaý they think ýFederico Felliniý. And I am certainly among them, so I was doubly enthusiastic about my trip to Rimini ý not just because I was taking my holiday of the year:))) In fact, Fellini is still considered Riminiýs most famous citizen, and duly so, I guess. Besides having all sorts of places named after the celebrated Italian director, it is also associated with one of his most famous films ý ýAmarcordý (which means, ýI rememberý, if I am not grossly mistaken).
Though Fellini did many more films than just ýAmarcordý. There where ýDolce Vitaý, ýNights of Cabiriaý, ýSatiriconý, ýThe Ship Sails Oný, ý8 ýý, ýRomeý, ýThe City Of Womený, ýThe Roadý, ýJuliet of the Spiritsý and more of themý
Go there in august to discover how a number of people higher than Australia can live in the square kilometres of a small city. The area is famous for the high concentration of discos, clubs, amusement parks, low prices for accommodations and food. La cucina romagnola, try it and will never stop to eat. In august is full of families (almost all Italy is on holiday in august) and young people going there to pick up the chicks, get drunk and have fun going to bed (not everyday) in the morning and going out late in the evening. The purpose is amusement.
Lot of amusement park are near by the city, swimming pools with waves and slides (Aquafan), a park dedicated to tales (Fiabilandia) and one with all the main Italian monuments in miniature (Italia in miniatura). These are the main.
Go there in june to enjoy the nature and relax. And to find parking if you want to make excursions. But not before a taste to cucina romagnola. Main dishes are made with meat (pork, perchè del maiale non si butta via niente) and then you have to taste all dishes of the region (Emilia-Romagna) like Tortellini, Ravioli, Lasagne and don’t forget the tipical romagnolo dish: la Piadina (aka Piada). It’s a medley of water, flour, some fat from pig and I don’t know what else (I’m not a cooker, just eater), it has a circular shape, just put some ham, cheese and salad, fold it in two and gnam gnam. Buon appetito!
I like that land between the sea and the hills, great land of wine there try the reds most famous Sangiovese, Lambrusco (both brut) and Cagnina (sweet), or the white Albana di Romagna with fish.
Go to see some hinterland places like San Marino and Gradara not far from Rimini.
