Hotel Poker / Ariosto
We had booked into Ariosto, and when our transfer dropped us off I had a sinking feeling that the hotel was shut. Sure enough when we approached the doors, there was a notice with our name and a map directing us to Hotel Poker, which was luckily only a 2 minute walk away.
We went to Poker and were able to check into our room early, which was nice. The room was on the small side, and the walk in toilet/shower room was particularly small. We were in room 201 which I would specifically request NOT to be put in at time of booking, as a portion of our room was occupied by the lift shaft, which was quite noisy and used from early hours until late evening. We did not complain about this however as the hotel we had booked into was 2star and the one we were staying in was 3star so we couldn't expect the best room the hotel had.
A dubious feature is the nearby train track with level crossing, which combined with lift shaft proved quite noisy - however the fresh sea air and our walking miles each day combined with ear plugs meant neither of us had trouble sleeping, but may not be suitable for light sleepers.
Unique Quality: Friendly staff, room cleaned daily and fresh towels each day. Safe in room at no extra cost and we had free aircon. Close to sea front and public transport.
