Dimora la Cascata: A sight for sore eyes!

A series of long and winding roads takes us through the town of Aulla and into our little village: Verrucola. Suddenly, just before us is our watermill! As we round a curve in the road, the autumn sunshin alights on an ancient stone church lurching up from the hillside on our left. Just over the bridge on the right is our new home for the week: A four storey watermill sitting alongside a stream, complete with waterfall and a family of ducks.

There is sufficient parking just a short walk from our accommodation. The view of our new home is absolutely stunning and quite takes our breathe away. As does the cold! A sharp wind has picked up, dancing around the car, nipping at our bodies.

Our host Lindsay, and her mum, met us at the door. Beaming smiles and welcoming arms, they drew us indoors. A roaring wood burning stove immediately takes off the chill, and straight away we feel at home.

Unique Quality: As we wander around, we get a feel for our accommodation. A small open plan kitchen, complete with washing up liquid, tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk - fabulous! (A few things we don't need to buy on our shopping expedition - this is a self catering apartment.) A lounge with a wood burning stove, a TV and video machine, a cupboard stashed to the brim with books and magazines, maps and interesting articles on the local area. Two bedrooms - both doubles, lovely sizes with big windows in each.

A wonderful touch to both, are the hot water bottles laid out at the end of each: obviously a necessity! Our bathroom is more of a wet room (the shower curtain doesn't really contain the drops!) a toilet and basin.

The place is wonderful, very cosy, rustic but we feel comfortable and at ease.
