Not all the fishermens boats serve for fishing, this one is very characteristic and serve excluselvely for taking out the shells from the bottom of the sea.
This kind of boat is forbidden in my country Croatia because, when taking out the shells it, contemporarly, grate whole the bottom devastating sea-flora for decades.
The last and the most turistic town we visited during our trip was Grado. The town is about 11 km far away from Aquileia and is located in an island. You can find there many historical sights such as three early-Christian buildings, the sixt-century Basilica, mosaics and many other buildings and monuments dated centuries back. Grado (means harbour) is also a modern turistic place with modern hotels, beautiful sandy beaches , lots of greenery and walking trails and numerous good restaurants.
A place, definitely worth to visit.
One among the numerous modern hotels, located alongside the long sandy beach, which has a reputation as the most beautiful in the area around.
The island of Barbana lies in the middle of Lagoon. Main sight of Barbana island is the Sanctuary, originaly dated back to VIII century .
A boat service connects Barbana with Grado in few minutes.
