Roads around Trieste

by Swetourist

Hello. I wonder what way is the best way to run if you come from Udine and drive to Umag. Is it very Traffic on Strada Statale 202, or is it better to run around Trieste at A3. Is the new roads complete around Trieste?

Hi SWETOURIST!

I have checked something about "Statale 202".
The Italian language article on link
http://www.informatrieste.eu/blog/blog.php?id=2345
talks about Statale 202 and it's complete reopen on March 23rd, 2009.

I think it is a good choice to reach Umag from Udine following Statale 202.
Anyway keep always in mind traffic flow in Italy and, if possible, I suggest to avoid to cross borders on Summer weekends.

Hee, hee, heeeee...
Mathias, wine tasting is one of my passions!

You'll drive in "Friuli Venezia Giulia" region so about wine I suggest you to take a look on:

I also suggest my tip "North of Italy: highways and traffic" on

There is a link to an experimental web page about traffic on Italian highways in real time.

Feel you welcome in my Country!

Arco di Riccardo

by gmg61

Walking through the old and narrow streets of Cavana you could think to be back to the XIX century, but abruptely you turn around a corner and face a roman gate. It's the so called "Arco di Riccardo" (Richard's Arch), a gate built in the Roman walls in 33 A.D. It stands in Piazzetta Barbacan and it's one of the best Roma ruines in town, together with the old theatre

A good web site.

www.trieste.com has information on what to do and see in the city; museums, itineraries, exibitions and so on. Moreover on this web site you can read something on the history of Trieste, its typical food and how to get there and around the city.

Go get lost!

by maykal

I had no guide book with me while visiting Trieste...no maps, no info, no idea what to see...but somehow that made sightseeing better...more haphazard, more surprising. As usual, I stuck to my normal theory that getting lost is the best way to discover a city...while blundering around the backstreets, I came across Roman arches (like this one), odd sculptures, and hillside parks.

Piazza della Borsa

by croisbeauty

Piazza della Borsa is conected to Piazza d'Unita. In the Piazza della Borsa (the Stock-Exchange Square) the building by A. Mollari (1806), bearing the same name, today houses the Chamber of Commerce, with a four-columned portico and allegoric statues decorating its facade.
