LIDO DI JESOLO --- ITALIA
by LoriPori about CAMPING INTERNATIONAL
After we left Oetz, Austria, we headed south through the Brenner Pass (120 schillings or $12.00 CDN). We took the A22 south through Bolzano and heade for our next destination--Venezia (Venice). We found a campground in Lido Di Jesolo, which is east of Venice. Located on the Adriatic Sea, we camped at CAMPING INTERNATIONAL for two nights. I still have my bill from the campground in my scrapbook. It was 54,000 Italian Lire ($54.00 CDN) which is pretty steep for 1986.
CAMPING IN CERIALE (SAVONA) ITALIA
by LoriPori about CAMPING PINEO MARE
After leaving Lido Di Jesolo, we headed west on A4 through Padova, Verona and Brescia, then A21 and A7 south towards Genoa (Genova). We drove along the Italian Riviera Coast to Savona, our next destination. We decided to camp for two days at CAMPING PINEO MARE in Ceriale(Savona),which by the way is still there. At the time it was owned by two Dutch brothers. I remember very well that we were packed in like sardines and our tent lines criss-crossed each other. I still have the bill in my scrapbook and the price was 63,800 Italian Lire ($63.80 CDN) Pretty expensive real estate.
A perfect getaway in northern Italy (Mules)
by Trekki about Stafler Romantik Hotel
Stafler Romantic Hotel in Mules, near Vipiteno/Sterzing in northern Italy is very famous since ages. In May 2010 I finally managed to stay here and did not regret it, moreover it is a reason to come back for a hiking holiday in this wonderful part of northern Italia.
The hotel is located in the village of Mauls (Mules) at the SS12 (road), the old Brennero road through the valley. The rooms though are not located facing the road but to the opposite side, facing the mountains. But then there isn’t that much traffic as one would think. The majority of drivers will take the autostrada E45/A22 (Brennero).
The hotel has a long history, was an old Post-Gasthof since 1270 (a house where stage coaches would stop, stay and change horses). Not only the two buildings with rooms belong to the hotel but also stables, a little museum about the hotel history, several places to eat and an entailed estate (farm). There are a lot of offers for any kind of wellness treatments, such as sauna, massages, swimming pool and beauty treatments. My room faced the mountains and had a balcony, which is typical for many hotels in the alpine regions. I loved the view and especially the very much quiet atmosphere. The room had everything I needed (and more), equipped with TV, phone, huge cabinet for storage, refrigerator and mini-bar. The bathroom has also all one needs, including hair dryer.
Breakfast is included, and what a breakfast!! It reminded me a bit of the one we stayed at in Karlsruhe during the Euromeet. Their selection is incredible. It is buffet style with a big variety of tea (tea bags and loose tea), six different juices, cold cuts, cheese, bread, croissants and rolls, yoghurt, fruit salads and fruits, cereals (loose), marmalade, Nutella, and much more. You can have “normal” coffee or order special one, including caffè (= which is called espresso anywhere outside of Italia).
Parking is available behind the house, safe, but then the region and Mauls especially are safe anyhow.
Yes, I enjoyed my stay here (simply can’t write better accommodation tips, lol).
Overall, I paid 89 Euro for my room.
(Their website is only in German and Italian at the moment).

Choosing Accommodations in Italia
by Callavetta
Deciding where to stay in Italy is an important part of planning a trip. Hotels (Albergi) are on the star system. Hotels are rated by government mandated criteria from 1 to 5 stars. There are also Pensiones or B&Bs (bed and breakfast), convent stays, agricultural stays, hostels, private rooms (camera), and apartments. To decide what works best for you will depend on a number of different things.
It's easy today to book accommodations before arriving. However, there are times when a traveler may choose to "fly by the seat of their pants". Leaving an itinerary open allows one to linger longer in a place that captivates, or move on when the urge hits. Obviously, a flexible "plan" works best in shoulder or off seasons. Landing in the Cinque Terra on an evening in late July, one might find oneself sleeping on the bench at the train station. But in April, you might find a host of options available.
Many, if not most, accommodations in Italy are reachable by email today. I have never had a problem making a reservation by email. On the rare occasion when I haven't heard back from my inquiry, I just assume either there are no rooms available or the place is closed for the low season. You will want to send encrypted credit card info to hold your reservation.
Recently I have begun renting apartments. For long enough stays, an apartment lets you feel more like a local. I love the idea of having a small fridge where I can keep some snacks or wine, although I never really cook meals in my apartment. Things to remember in Italy:
una camera = a room
un albergo = a hotel
un doppio = a double
un matrimonio = a double bed
In Italy the first floor is actually what we Americans call the second floor (and so on up). The "first floor" is the ground floor.
Most rooms come with breakfast included. Italian breakfasts most often include wonderful coffee, a selection of rolls and cornettos, fruit juice, and sliced meats and cheeses.

In Italia é già primavera
In Italia oh dolce Italia
La gente é più sincera, la vita é più vera
Ma poi arrivan quei momenti in cui non si sa che dire
Quando si sa dove si é ma non dove si può andare
E dopo tante certezze e tante sicurezze
E' il momento di dubitare, sembra tutto senza valore
Ma in Italia oh dolce Italia
In Italia é già primavera
In Italia oh dolce Italia
La gente é più sincera, la vita é più vera
Ma poi tornati qui a Milano sembrano tutti americani
Vivono vite di sponda ciechi ai loro problemi
Vorrei metterli su di un Jumbo e poi fargliela vedere
Quell'America senza gioia, sempre in vendita come una troia
Ma in Italia oh dolce Italia
In Italia é già primavera
In Italia oh dolce Italia
La gente é più sincera,
la vita
Qui in Italia oh dolce Italia
In Italia é già primavera
In Italia oh dolce Italia
La gente é più sincera, la vita é più vera

"Viva Italia"
When you go to a place for a visit you expect some things.
But when on the flight back you get this pain in the stomach and this sadness of goodbye you know the trip was a succes..
When it comes to Italy i ve always felt this thing, this itching to go again ...
Everything is nice , the Ancients, the food, the people , the Cars , The roads...
"Visit it everywhere!"
It doesn't matter where you go you will always find some quality things in Italia. Every major city has its history and the small villages are small and lovely.....

"Bella Italia!"
My first foray into the foriegn world of foreign lands was Italy. All my life before I departed, Italy, with all its history, entrigued me the most. It did not disappoint. Though, I may have gone on to find more amazing things, there will never be another "first trip". Having recently returned, it still captivates me with its neverending list of places to see, foods to eat, and personalities that can only be described as... Italiano puro!

Holiday to Italia!
by ruffguide
Hi there,
we are 4 adults looking to visit Italy for two weeks in mid june. We would like to visit Florence and Rome with around a week on a coast, but apart from that are fairly flexible. however, we are having a very difficult time figuring out our itinerary for this trip, bearing in mind flying from midlands UK airports into one location and out of a different one, but ending up back in the midlands - confusing i know!!
if anyone could give any tips or advice whatsoever that would be much appreciated!
thank you in advance

for starters, where are you flying into and out of?
RE: RE: Holiday to Italia!

We would like to fly out of nottingham or birmingham, and where we fly into in italy really depends on the route we take around italy, as we would to expect to fly into one destination and fly out of another
thanks very much for your quick reply!
cheers

we have done the following trip - fly into Milan, drive to the Ligurian coast south of Genoa like Santa Margherita Ligure. The drive to Florence and get rid of the rental car. Stay in Florence, then train to Rome and fly home from Rome. There are many nice villages in Liguria. With 2 weeks you could stay in one or more, then have 4 or so days for each of the major cities. Hopefully this will give you a base for planning. N. >~!
