A friendly efficient small hotel that perhaps more accurately could be called a hostel-but don't let that put you off.
Very central-two minute walk from thr Grand Canal and ten minutes from the adjacant bus and train terminals.
Very clean- some folks think this is important-and reasonably priced. I took a double with private shower toilets etc plus satellite TV: at least it's got Eurosport and I certainly don't want or need to know what's going on in the world when on holiday.
Prices also include breakfast-juice crossants rolls cream cheese cereals yogurt coffee.
Coffee was from a Nescafe machine. If you prefer a larger cup of black to expresso hit the expresso button twice then hit the aqua.
Don't know the single room rate but I paid 72 Euros per night for my excellent double.
Another tip. Tired from travelling first night I had a nap about 5pm. When I woke up the sun was shining through my window so decided to go eat. It was 3am! The street lighting on Via Roma consists of massive lightbulbs attached to the buildings. At number 13 that was directly outside my window. Needless to say I really did enjoy breakfast at 7am that morning.
My advice? Shut the shutters as well as curtains. Enjoy.
No great views unless you count hanging out the window in the morning watching the suckers-sorry- workers- trudging along towards their personal hell. Theme: HotelDirections: Right from stations. Left Jolly Hotel-Via Roma two blocks. Turn right- Nuevo on left. Or Pass Jolly- sea on right- left at Grand Canal- Via Roma 2nd St on left. Bridge with figure of Irish writer James Joyce is continuation of Via Roma.
