This imposing edifice on the seafront close the main square has all the trappings of the 'Grand old lady' style of European hotels. Bulking layers of rooms arranged almost wedding cake like over the large public rooms on the ground floor. Thankfully the refurbishment of this place has been tastefully done. I'll translate from the brochure speak for you :
Brochure : " creates a cozy, elegant Mitteleuropean atmosphere"
Sourbugger : "Black and gold downstairs, cream and browns upstairs. Job done. sorted"
Good views over the Gulf of Trieste, and a great location.
Public rooms are spacious and appealing.
