Hotel Garni Riviera: Gargnano's Enchanting Hotel

After visiting various towns around the Italian lakes I have decided that romantic Gargnano, on the shores of Lake Garda, takes the post. All you need is at hand: a handful of al fresco restaurants along the orange tree lined promenade, cafe, pharmacy, mini-market, fruit and veg shop, bakery, a few smart boutiques, wine shop, delicatessen, ice cream parlour, dry cleaning. The ferry that connects with other towns moors conveniently next to the nearby marina. And as a budget traveller I found boutique Hotel Garni Riviera perfect. It is by the lake with rooms opening their windows over it. It is small, immaculately clean, has a lift and a beautiful terrace overlooking Lake Garda to have breakfast: cold meats, cheeses, breads, croissants, pastries, juices, tea, coffee, milk, cereals, fruit, you name it. It is owned by chic couple Gian and Elise who go out of their way to make your stay an unforgettable one. Those evenings, dining and wining by the lake front, under starry skies and glancing at the shimmering lights of distant towns on the other side of the lake were total magic. I have already contacted Hotel Garni Riviera to warn them that I am soon coming back for more. By the way, D H Lawrence and his wife Frieda stayed in Gargnano for a while where it is said he wrote his book 'Twilight in Italy'.
