The rooms are decorated with crimson wall paper and gold trim (i.e. Venetian style). The bathtub is amazing, some have a built-in jacuzzi. The staff is very friendly and hospitable. Cable television, minibar, and continental breakfast is served (assortment from yogurt, fresh pastries, fruit, juice, coffee). Oddly enough the most enjoyable part of staying here was how wonderfully quiet it was at night ( I slept like a baby). I loved this hotel. It's a hidden gem.
Located directly accoss from the best restaurant in Venice: L'osteria di Santa Marina. If you like seafood...you must eat here. Go for the 5 course dinner, it's a good bargain and you get to sample more of the menu. This has to be one of the top 3 restaurants I have ever eaten at , in my life!!! I still recall the taste of the calamari.....amazing! Our stay here was terrible The management were unhelpfull in relation to our accomodation despite having booked through a reputable travel operator we were shoved in the basement. The room we were allocated was below ground level with one small window which allowed the smells of the sewer to enter the room. There was no natural light and the shower didnt work the hose had holes in it and the water sprayed everywhere but from the shower. After much complaint we were moved to another room which was just as poor. We accept we were doing it on the cheap 2 stars but this was just substandard. Breakfast was included however we did not eat it as the bread was stale beyond being edible.

I stayed in Rimini in order to go to the beach and to visit San Marino. Because Rimini is a resort town, there were a lot of hotels to choose from and after much deliberation, I finally selected Villa Lalla. When I arrived, I realized I'd made a good choice. It is located just a 5 minute walk from the train station (and where the buses stop that take you to and from San Marino). It's another 3-5 minute walk to the beach. The hotel is located on a quiet street. The rooms are all very modern and clean. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast, which is included in your stay, was delicious. There were a lot of items to choose from and they had great blood orange juice. At the beach, the hotel has their own bungalow. I always return to this hotel because of the quality of the rooms, service and location for a price that is reasonable.
Ask for top floor junior suites that have a terrace which have views of the sea and MT. Etna. A great breakfast is served on a large terrace with the same view. We spent 5 days in Cinque Terre, basing ourselves in the gorgeous little village of Riomaggiore. We stayed at Il BoMa, and we highly recommend it. They are very welcoming, and helpful. (Their restaurant tips were spot on). We stayed in the Blue Room - nice new mattress and lovely big and clean bathroom. No it doesn't have a view of the sea, but who comes to Cinque Terre to sit in your room?! Yes, it's on the main street but double glazing is a wonderous thing. (If it gets too warm, there is always the air-con).
It's on the main street, so after a day's hiking it's easy to pop back to your room and freshen up for a short walk to one of the great little restaurants. We understand they can also help with car parking if you need it. (If you are driving you will because you'd be mad to drive around here - you'd miss too much for a start). Lire 160,000 per person half board, 2 day min stay
The hosts, Andrea and Sylvia are very friendly and easygoing. We spent almost a week eating wonderful food, swimming in the pool and Andrea took us riding on his Canadian quarterhorses. The location is very quiet, but close to Florence, Siena and San Gimignano. We were travelling with 3 kids and grandparents and this was the perfect place to stay. We camped for three years in a row in the 'Camping Pianacce ' (which means squirrel) (part of a chain 'Camping di Charme'). It has a large swimming pool, there's animation and there is a good pizzeria on the grounds. Traffic inside the grounds is limited, so at night you have to be in by car before a certain time. If not, you have to climb the steep hill to your caravan or tent.
It's a safe environment for kids and there's even a bus that brings you to and from the beach.
