May I quote here from my email at the time: "Salvatore waited at the gate. Who knows how long he had tarried, his patience finally rewarded by the arrival of his two guests. Yet we knew for how long, for we had travelled on back roads, main roads and even an autostrada just looking for the place that surely was less than 3 kms from the centre of town. Past churches, ancient towers and even a university; we had even climbed through a forest towards the mountains and yet, as it transpired, this was indeed where the turn off was, the middle of the forest of mature pine trees. After seeking a local's advice and showing him our map, for no-one else had heard of Villa Fortezza, we discerned that we were less than 4oo metres from said turn. With frayed nerves we ascende through the trees amd, within moments of our arrival, all thoughts of dismay were banished from our minds; for here in isolated splendour was the villa of our dreams. Panoramic views over the town and beyond to the surrounding hills brought smiles to our faces as the evening lights glistened in the cool autumn air. Two long mosquito nets gathered near the top and made narrow hung from the trees lit by blue and red lights. Salvatore ushered us into his villa and our smiles became wider with wonder as we gaped at this architectural feast of 100 fish shapes hanging beneath his staircase, of artistic sculptures (by his girlfriend who was responsible for the decor), ultra modern furniture, picture windows that slide into the walls and artifacts beyound count.
Did I mention how artistic it was? You could seriously walk into this home 100 times and still note something new on each occasion. There is so much modern art it beggars description. The word "plethora" seems inadequate and so much is indescribable but nonetheless impressive. Next morning in the garden we note the 25 assorted candles on a tree stump, the indians paddling a canoe when the wind blows a weather vane, the two crushed metal cubes (one with a candleabra prominent), the garish rock and other tree stump on which are painted people's faces and the ancient tower next door, once a part of the fort (fortezza). Indeed, while we partake of a seemingly endless breakfast with the sun's warming rays streaming through yet another picture window and, who else but Edith Piaf providing a musical background, we realise this is not a B&B - NON - it is an experience; one we will treasure for the rest of our lives. We had a wonderful stay at the Globus. We booked after reading many excellent reviews and were not disappointed. It's within an easy 5 minute walk from the main train station, breakfast and wifi were both included, which was very convenient. The Duomo is only about a 10 minute walk away, if that. It got shorter once we knew how to get there. The street market is just down the street as are several excellent restaurants of varying prices. We chose to stay in the economy room as we would only be there 3 nights and wouldn't be in the room much. It was small, but clean, comfortable and suited our needs just fine. A longer stay would warrant a larger room, but it was great for a short stay. You do have to climb a set of stairs to get to the check in desk, but they are willing to help you with your bags if they know you're there. The elevator is small (1 person with 2 suitcases) and slow, but effective. The continental breakfast was in a very small room, but was plentiful and very good. Get there early or you may have to wait to sit down. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

Part of a chain of luxury hotels in Italy, France and the UK, the Casa Angelina is located in Praiano just outside of Positano. This luxury hotel, is more boutique hotel than the San Pietro which you can see across the bay. This is a very relaxed chilled location, with the white styling seen more often in Santorini or Mykonos. The hotel has rooms with private terraces, an outdoor pool, and indoor pool, gym and sauna overlooking the bay and an excellent restaurant. While not a spa, it bills itself as a lifestyle hotel, and you can arrange personal trainers for yoga or gym, massages or other beauty treatments. The staff from reception, to bar to the gym are friendly, helpful and low key. The Marrakesh bar with deep sofas, subdued lighting and a great music mix is a fantsastic way to start off an evening. The restaurant is at the top of the hotel, with inside and outside dining terrace. The food is excellent with excellent local seafood and fresh pasta and local wines. There is a good wine list as well of Italian and European wines.
The hotel has its own private beach (only 276 steps down and back up again!) With sunbeds, umbrellas and there is a small taverna beside for seaside lunches. Fiesta Terrace was the place where I stayed in Rome for 2 days. It is a hostel and offers a variety of different options available. One can opt for a dorm bed or a private room with ensuite bathroom and toilet. The owner of the place is a very nice man. He provided free city maps (unlimited number of them) to me. He also told about different restaurants in the neighbourhood to eat out. The hostel has its own shared kitchen which is shared by all the guests. I stayed in a private ensuite accomodation there so cannot comment on the common bathrooms and toilets. But the hostel itself is only a 10 minute walk from the Termini station. So if you are coming from the airport, hop on to the Leonardo Express to the Termini and then just walk your way to the hostel. Also both metro lines A and B are available at Termini. There is another metro station Vittorio E which is only 5 minutes walk from the hostel and which is connected by the metro line A. If you want you can actually walk all the way to the Colosseum from the hostel and then continue your tour of the Eternal City from there on. There is also a super market that is only 5 minutes walk from this hostel. So if you want to buy some grocery the place is open till 8 in the evening. Also there are a variety of restaurants varying from Italian pizza stores to Chinese to Indian which are also walking distance from the hostel. All in all, I found it to be the right place to stay in Rome as I was travelling on a budget and also didnt want to be too far from the metro and train stations as I had an early morning train to catch to Pisa. This is a 4-star hotel, close to the highway, ideal for businessmen and tourist groups. All the rooms are spacious, with TVs, phones, fridge-bars, bathrooms, but the walls are quite thin, and there's only 1 lift (can be a problem when carrying too much luggage).

This is a 4-star hotel, very classy, with marble everywhere. The lobby's spacious and light. All the rooms have TVs and spacious bathrooms. The hotel's ideal for businessmen. And there's a restaurant, where you can choose from a great variety of food. We only had breakfast, but it was really tasty!
There's a swimming pool in the hotel, and a cinema next to the hotel.
