    We stayed in Hotel Julia in Rome.
    Not luxurious but extremely well situated about 5 minutes walk from Trevi.It cost about $!00 for a quad room for our whole family.
    In Tuscany we stayed in a farmhouse called Bellavista,
    about 20 mins drive from Florence. It was brilliant,with its own private swimming pool open even at night which was great for the kids.

    the farmhouse was the most heavenly place I have ever stayed. They make their own honey,and the pool was fun. You can tour around all day and then come home to swim. We also went horseriding nearby. the owners gave us all the details of the place.

  • The youth hostel in venice is in a wonderful place, on an island exactly opposite Piazza San Marco.
