It is possible to rent small appartements with a nice for view for a small amount of money! Compared to the hotels it's a lot cheaper.
The appartements have bath/toilet and a small kitchen and living room.

If you are in Ponza Porto in the evening, go to see the Sunset at Chiaia di Luna, it's fantastic.
To go there, just walk to the tunnel under the mountain and you'll be there in few minutes. Bring with you a light-source, the tunnel is very dark, you'll need it to go back after the sunset.
There is a small bar on the beach, have there an aperitive or a beer.
Chiaia di Luna is the large beach that is located in a little bay formed by a beautiful cliff. It is on the opposite side of the island from the city of Ponza and can be reached by walking through the very old, dark Roman tunnel. You can also follow the road up to the top of the cliff for a wonderful view of the beach. Maybe some day I'll load a picture on here, but you can always google it if you want to see what I'm talking about. The only thing I didn't like about this beach was the stuff that looked like brown paper shreds (seaweed I assume) that would stick to your feet. Otherwise, this place was great. Also, just before the tunnel is a cute enoteca with a very nice woman who is more than happy to help you pick out a bottle of wine.
If you can sail and are with some friends, sailing is the most exciting way to spend some days or more in Ponza. If you can't sail, most charter companies have professional skippers for rent. Look for their addresses in the nearest cities and towns on the coast (Formia, Gaeta, Terracina, S. Felice Circeo, Nettuno, ...).
Sailing in Ponza is not diffucult, all you need is a boat and a good map (there are many rocks, but all well known and easy to find on the map).
If you can't sail or don't want to afford the expense you can rent a small engine boat when you are in Ponza. Very easy to drive, allow you to go in the most amazing places (Frontone, Cala Inferno, Natural Arch, Chiaia di Luna, Cala di Feola).
One of the most spectacular beaches of Ponza... with high cliffs all around... mmm... don't miss the sunset from here !!
