Fontana del Papa: The Pope's Fountain

Fontana del Papa is a charming 16th century country home. Staying there with a warm Italian family was the most memorable time of my trip to the region of Lazio. The Bed & Breakfast was immaculate, and tastefully decorated. Claudio and Assuntina (owners) pay attention to every little detail and made us all (family) feel at home. The food was delicious & plentiful. We ate until our heart's were content. There were plenty of activities for us all to do. My sister and I cooked with Luciana every day, making home made pasta. We even made pizza and baked it in a wood burning oven that is outside. My other sister relaxed outside with Bartolo (family Sheep dog), taking in fresh air, surrounded by beautiful olive trees. My nephews went biking, horse back riding nearby and loved all of the attention from the family and kids. No one wanted to leave! We can't wait to return to Fontana del Papa and to our friends.

This old house is beautiful and full of character from the inside and out. The view of the colorful mountains outside my bedroom window was spectacular to look at, especially in the morning, when I watched the sunrise slowly appear above the mountain tops.
