Tickets to the Pantheon?

by StaceeDCa

How much are they?

No charge on entry.

No tickets required.

I am assuming that you mean tickets for entry, and not special events. There is no admission fee for entry, therefor no ticket is needed, but the gelato shop across the piazza has a ticket machine with numbers to call out the next in line. There you will need a ticket unless you are the only one around.

Keep in mind the tickets are for gelato, not the Pantheon which has an open-door policy. I highly recommend the gelato though either before the Pantheon or after . . . or both if it's a hot day. LOL

Ahahahaha Lary & beausoleil! Sure... lacking a ticket or even a que for the Pantheon... why not do it for a good gelato? Right!

In order to see it from a different point of view, try to get to the roof top terrace of Hotel del Senato that is located right there on Piazza della Rotonda.
Few pictures are also available on their web site. Here is the link:
The bar should only be open for clients staying there but if you ask kindly and show interest for a future visit, they will let you go.

Look at Forums from any of hills around. You can take a look on old Forums, while your guide will tell you some history, that you have learned at school, but then have successfully forgotten ;)
It's a bit funny to hear phrases like: 'Look at that two stones - that was a church. Look at that three columns - that was a palace'. What a pity, that ancient city is almost destroyed by time. Well, who knows - would these stones be as attractive, if they will be better-looking?

Capuchin Cemetery

by ruki

There are bizarre and macabre chapels of this cemetery, where the decorative elements - from the picture frames to the light fittings - are all made of human bones.

The crypt is located just under Santa Maria della Concezione, a church commissioned by Pope Urban XIII in 1626

Taxis are not cheap but very convenient especially after dinner when you can just ask the waiter for a taxi, they have some sort of device which we don't have in my country, where they can book and call a taxi for you, and taxis usually come in a second for you.

Restaurant:Opposite Vatican Museum

by freethinker

I can not recall the exact name( I only remember that the name has a connection with vatican:caffe vaticano or something like that....) but it was just at the opposite side of the exit gate of vatican museum. We had a fixed plan to avoid the area as restaurants at this place are well- known for their cost (and even sometimes the worst meal). But our 2yr old kid was too hungry after a lot of walking inside the museum and we too were suffering because of the weather. It was too hot with a scorching sunshine. So we had no option than to go to the nearest one. But our experience is not so bad. It was cool inside and they offer good quality of food with reasonable price. We had two dishes of macarony, one veg. another with salami, one plate of bbq chicken &one plate of onion rings, four bottles of coke and one large Gelati. and it costs 45euro.Isn't it a good one?

Walking through time

by afowles

Just wandering the streets of Trastevere can thrust you backwards in time. Your mind will revel in the feeling of reckless abandon as you peripatetically drift over the cobblestones amid the rising smells of the fine cooking.

Consider grabbing a bottle of wine to accompany you as you meander. Say Ciao to everyone you meet, including the bums in Piazza di Santa Maria di Trastevere.
