Ideal Location near the Colosseum
We stayed here during our first visit to Rome (summer 2000, which happened to coincide w/ Jubilee)-- before lots of hotels had fancy websites. We chose Romano because of their attention and promptness -- and enjoyed our overall stay. The rooms are simple and clean. The breakfast was just juice and a croissant.
Unique Quality: The staff was extremely friendly when we stayed here. The helped us with the luggage.

Good budget hotel in a great area (Rome)
I stayed two nights at Hotel Romano in a single with private bath. (80e /night). The room was very small, but also very clean and secure. The best part of the Romano was the location (right next to the Forum at the end of Via Cavour) and the staff of the hotel. all of the people at the front desk spoke English, were very polite, gave restaurant recommendations, lent umbrullas when it rained and hailed cabs for me. They really made my stay here pleasant.
Hotel Romano isn't fancy, and there are no elevators so you have to carry your bags up the stairs. But I thought it was a good price for the location, cleanliness and great service. The windows are very thick, so it's nice and quiet at night, unlike other hotels in the area. And my room had a great view of the Forum.

2-star but good like some 4-star hotels I've stayed at, new and very clean rooms.
Unique Quality: In terms of location it's an excellent place, on Via Cavour where it meets Via dei Fori Imperiali, the Roman Forum is across the street and the Coliseum very close. Safe at night and surrounded by good restaurants. Internet place across the street. Look at the Roman Forum from your balcony at night... (the picture shows the hotel surroundings, it's just under the center of the image)
