I like 4 areas: Piazza Navonna, Spanish Steps, Campo de Fiori and Trevi Fountain. Stay away from the Coloseum, Terminal Station. This is my personal opinion. I used an apartment search company called: http://www.rentalinrome.com/. It lets you know the prices, location, bedrooms, etc and has pictures to go with it. You will love it. Also book the Vatican Museum online, go in front of everyone for reserved groups and you will avoid lots of time in line. Do the walking tour at night that Rick Steves promotes. Enjoy Rome, but it will wear you out; all the walking, the hard rock roads and the hustle and bustle. But you will enjoy every minute. Ciao, Scott

Apartment I Gatti Di Roma Photo: Rome from St. Peters
Thanks for the info regarding transportation to Ostia Antica. sounds easy enough so I think I will venture there the day before my flight. This brings me to my next question. Does anyone know which buses go to the airport from Ostia Antica Park Hotel. I did find the A3002 goes to the airport but that is nowhere near the hotel.
Thanks folks
Re: Ostia Antica to airport
by leics
Ostia Antica is truly superb, and well worth visiting.
It is not really worth staying there overnight though. Apart from the site itself there is little to see or do in the area. If possible, I suggest you change your plans and spend your last night in Rome.
The hotel has its own shuttle bus to the airport (15 euro):
http://www.ostiaanticaparkhotel.it/uk/shuttle.asp
and a page giving detailed access by public transport:
It seems there is no public bus link nearby, so it's a case of either going back into and out of Rome or taxi (30 euro) or shuttle bus.
Travel Tips for Rome

On the right side of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and the Martyrs there were the gym of the thermae of Diocletian. It is called Sala della Minerva (Room of Minerva, in English). Italo Gismondi turn the room in the planetarium of the town in 1928.
La Dolce Vita
by AlexDJ about General information
Rome may not be the hippest of capitals, but for those who know the right places, it is possible to party all night. Dolce Vita's days are far away but Romans still love to go out late and the fun only really commences after dinner. The wine-bars and caf?s lying between Campo de? Fiori, Piazza Navona and Via della Pace are the places to be seen. Irish pubs are also popular with Italians and expatriates, and can be a good place for a fun and informal night out. The biggest concentration of nightclubs lie in the Testaccio and Ostiense districts. One of the main drags in Testaccio, Via di Monte Testaccio, is literally lined with bars, pubs, live music venues and clubs. In Ostiense the scene has taken off in recent years and this is where to find some of the hippest new bars and so-called ristodisco, places where you can both eat and dance.
great steak!
by emma_and_dan about steak house, via Montebello
Amazing little place, the spaghetti served there was the best Dan has ever tasted, the steak Emma had was fantastic, tender yet cooked to perfection, the prices were more than reasonable, and even though we ate, in effect, in the street, sat in the tabled area on a portion of the road, there was a sense of not being in that kind of environment. The local people used this restaurant, tourists were there til about 8, then at 9 the place was packed again by locals. Everything we ate was spot on!
Gianicolo CHAMPAGNE Promotion w/Buffet
by icunme about La Terrazza
We've never eaten at La Terrazza but since today was Gianicolo day, we stopped here and had a great time at the Heidsieck champagne promotion. It continues through September 10, 2006, and it is well worth a visit. The outdoor terrace adjoining the Fontanone monument is charming - the vista here is extraordinary and surpassed only up a way at the very top of Gianicolo, at Garibaldi Piazalle. You do not have to order the champagne and prices vary - my Grand Marnier was 8€ and the buffet was complimentary. Buffet promotion hours: 6 to 9:30 pm
We will go back to La Terrazza when this promotion ends and try the regular restaurant menu. Good buffet choices
