Driving Rome to Tuscany

by DancinTraveler

Hi! After Rome I plan on driving to Tuscany to stay at the Villa il Poggiale. It is supposedly a little less then 3 hrs. Has anyone every driven Rome-Tuscany/Florence?

Thank you, thank you!

I've made the Roma/Firenze trip several times by car. It does take about 3 hours,
but you'll be turning off before Firenze towards Montelupo Fiorentino.
I would add another 45 minutes to your journey.

Travel Tips for Rome

We spent several hours here. Picture yourself a spectator at the games being held in this arena. The animals ranged from lions and tigers to elephants and other exotic creatures (gladiators included). An elevator system was used to bring these beasts to the arena floor which was above the multiple floors of, now visible, corridors.

Finding True Treasures in Italy

by alnchance

I found a gorgeous "Camel Bone" trunk in AnaCapri, Italy - Along with so much more to ship back to the USA .. See the pictures of all the fabulous things I purchased in Italy on my buying trip!

I took fifteen people on this June 2006 Italy tour. Wow, we had the most amazing time traveling everywhere in Italy... We all shipped home true treasures. My next group I will take is September 26 - Oct 7, 2006. Then, I will take another group to Italy in late May 07.

Not finding Stephani in her store, would most likely mean she is somewhere in the Tuscany hills of Italy in her motor coach showing eveyrone the beauty of God's creation. Seeking out true antiques for her own East Texas store, as well as planning each day for her guests a "Magical" adventure filled with the history of time gone by and finding fabulous treasures!

Sightseeing around Rome

by vanzara

we were in Rome last september. We bought Roma pass at the main train station
(you have to go one level down at the tourist info center). This pass allows
for 2 or 3 days unlimited travel by train and bus and also two museum free.
Check out rome pass. We stayed near train station and took train to colleseum.
We travelled all over rome by walking(great fun) or mostly bu Bus including to
Vatican.Pope provides audience on Wednesdays( if in town) at 10:00 (??).
Also you can purchase Vatican museum ticket on line eliminating waiting in line.
Hope it helps.

Buy your own

by tini58de about Markethall in Via dei Gracchi

Just across the street from our B&B there was this wonderful market hall - open 6 days a week (except Sundays). Inside you could find stalls with fruit, vegetables, fresh seafood, meat, salami, ham, cheese, wine, bread - even pots and pans were for sale!

What a joy to go shopping there! We usually bought our lunch there - and it never got boring!!!

A somewhat unusual site in Rome.

In the basement of the Santa Maria della Concezioni is the Capuchin Crypt. It is said that this order of Catholic monks paid tribute to their deceased brothers by preserving their bones. They have arranged thousands of bones onto the walls and ceilings of the crypt and even made lampshades from them. The name "Cappuchino" is said to have come from the color of the monks robes. One of the more macabre sights in Rome. One is not suppose to take pictures in the crypt and donations are accepted for entrance.
