There is an Outdoor market near the Vatican Museun. It is called Trionfale. As a chef, this is the greatest place to walk around and see all the fresh produce and choices of meats and cheeses. If you have the capabilties of cooking in your hotel or what ever, this is an abosulute must. I bought enough food for 12 college students from Temple university for about 90,000 Lira ($45USD).Spend some time here. It is a welcome break from the tour scence.My son took us on a walking tour of the antiquities. Doing it this way and reading things in the books is the best way to get the feel of the city.
