My primary requirements for a vacation accommodation are cleanliness, safety, and economy. Sometimes you get lucky and also find a great host and location. At Alla Cupola di San Pietro we had access to a kitchen which greatly reduced costs, within easy walk to San Pietro train station (0.5km) and view of St Peters (1.3km walk). Instead of a center city location we were in a great neighborhood. This is a great find for economy-minded travelors focused on exploring a new place - not a party oriented or evening entertainment place, but great for us.
I wish it was on the metro line rather than the train line, but if you are using the Roma pass this (Cesano) line is included, and you can ride from St. Pietro station to Rome Termini (or walk to the Ottavianno Metro stop - 2km away and skip the local train connection)
Unique Quality: Only two rooms so individualized attention from host family.
You can make coffee anytime in your shared kitchen, Store food in the refrigerator; cook if you want to.
Breakfast includes fresh breads and rolls, snack pasteries, fresh fruit, yogurt, fruit juice - plentiful and good variety.
I loved the classic art deco building - especially the doors.
