I believe the person you should ask is Carol (icunme) on vt she says it is wonderful I think she has some awesome pages, it probably depends how much time you have available

Re: Tivoli

my sister went on a bus tour with greenline tours - she found it very interesting and had a good time

Re: Tivoli

Only if the weather is warm and pleasant (preferably sunny). Main attraction is Villa dEste with park and fountains. Old Villa Adriana is somewhat away from the Tivoli and interesting for history fans (it is in a state similar to Palatine hill).

Depends on you and your interests. To me, it was absolutely worthwhile.

Yes.

Especially if you like architecture and history.

The Villa d'Este is lovely (especially if the fountains in the gardens are on) and the Villa Adriana fascinating .

Tivoli itself is a nice town...I enjoyed wandering (I have a page).

You don't need a guided tour, or tour of any type. Get the Metro to Ponte Mammolo, get off and walk into the adjacent Cotral bus station. Buy your bus tickets at the office in the cafe by the station enyrance/exit and simply get on the bus. Buses are frequent, and take 30-40 minutes.

Travel Tips for Rome

The Colosseo

by GUYON

See the Colosseo. You would be able compare what you see to the final scene of Gladiator (the movie).
A large part of the stones had been removed in order to repare and to build some houses in Rome. You need imagination to have a complete picture of the arena.

Roman Easter Monday Picnic Custom

by icunme

With the Easter Sunday and Pasquetta now behind us, we can reflect on the customs that repeat in Spring each Easter. On Pasquetta, which is the day after Easter (Easter Monday) and a national holiday, it is traditional to have a picnic. Most people go to the Villa Doria Pamphili. And they eat three things: pecorino cheese, red wine, and raw fava beans.

The villa became the largest public park in the city in 1971. It has become a favourite place for jogging and dog owners. The oldest part at 183 of the Aurelia Antica is Villa Vecchia, which already existed when Panfilo Pamphili bought in 1630. The new villa was built between 1644and 1652 by Algardi and Grimaldi when Innocent X Pamphili was Pope. The richly frescoed halls of the villa having access from 111 Via Aurelia were embellished by a collection of statues, which today are in the Capitolini Museums. Changes, extension and new constructions to the villa continued in the 19th century

Skaterwear

by Marilyn18 about Carhartt

Carhartt, an American trademark, has started a new female line in Europe, there are two exclusive stores in Rome, one of them is near the Campo.

Great jeans and t-shirts. Cool style and good quality. Carhartt pants and t-shirt or sweater... anything. If you like it here, you'll spend anything beyond 100€...

Go with public transport, like...

by Nijntje

Go with public transport, like train etc. to go into the center if you are not a local.
Local people from Roma drive good in their own town, but with their own rules.
Don't try to bike in this big city.

Linguini con Frutti di Mare

by paulapes about d'Archetto Pizzeria

d'Archetto Pizzeria...near the Trevi Fountain. This is me outside after a meal one night. We ate there twice and had no complaints.
It's a fun, busy, comfortable place for a meal. Try to go downstairs to sit...it's more interesting. Everything we had was great....I can't recommend any one thing.
