Has anyone stayed in the Baltic Hotel in Rome? What was it like?

In case you have not already, best to check out hotels on tripadvisor.com and venere.com. If you want to know if the area is good, if it is close to certian attractions you want to see, or what attractions worthwhile are nearby, then this is your place to ask. Karl

Hello,
Will be arriving at Termini from Pisa at 24.00 hrs and am told hotel baltic is 700 mtrs walk - 15 minutes, since I will be with family, please advise if it's safe at night to take a 15 min walk from 'Termini' to hotel Baltic, appreciate your views pl!

Is it safe? Well, probably...you're likely not to be the only people about, and despite the presence of some strange people, Rome is fairly safe, as we Rome enthusiasts state over and over.

Would I do it, especially with luggage and family? No. Take a taxi and tip the guy well. There are some occasions in which saving a couple of euros isn't worth the aggravation; this is probably one of them...

Shuttle Bus??

by roselewis

We need to arrive at Rome Airport by 8.20am from Baltic Hotel which is near the main Rome railway station. Is paying for a shuttle bus now a good idea or would another option be better. This will be Mid May.
Thanks

Which airport?

For Fiumicino you just take the train from Termini station, eiher the Leonardo Express (11 euros one-way) or the local stopping train (cheaper, but takes a bit longer).

For Ciampino you'll need to catch a bus (Autobus shuttle will be better than the 'ordinary' bus) or book a shuttle (unless you are flying with a budget carrier, in which case investigate the Terravision coach service).

http://www.adr.it/content.asp?L=3&IdMen=204 has details.

If you decide to pay for a shuttle then I'd book it now.

Thanks, It was Fiumicino Airport we are leaving from. We have a quote for 59 Euros for a shuttle bus which I thought was pretty good as long as they actually live up to the agreement!!.

Re: Shuttle Bus??

That was 59 Euros between 4 of us!

Re: Shuttle Bus??

well, the Leonardo Express is 46 for 4 people, so maybe the extra 13 are worth not having to manage all the baggages..

I have a similar question for my trip in mid May. What is the best option for a 06:50 flight on Saturday morning from Fiumicino? I will be arriving from Florance (via train) the day before and staying near the train station. Will I be able to book a shuttle with my hotel when I arrive on Friday afternoon?

Re: Shuttle Bus??

You'll be able to book a taxi (ask the hotel), but I'm not sure about a shuttle (it will depend on availability, obviously).

If you definitely want a shuttle, then I suggest you book ahead online. There are plenty of firms if you google 'fiumicino airport transfer'. Taxi fare should be around 40 euros (according to the airport website, which might need updating, of course):

Another idea for a shuttle service is Roma Shuttle (www.romashuttle.com) - you pay the driver, not in advance. Check their website for pricing. We liked them and it was easier early in the morning than taking a train.
