Accomodation in Anzio

by Jensbo

I'm looking for a large apartment to go to Rome during summer.
Some friends told me about an apartment in Anzio 60km south from Rome at sea, but well connected by train (
The owner is very reliable, the apartment/villa is very cheap (100euro per night up to 9 people!) so i'm quite convinced.
Do you know about Anzio and the seaside around there?
We will also go to Ponza, an island 45min away form Anzio, have you been there is it nice?

Anzio is the weekend beach place for people in that area. Lots of appartments and holiday houses along the coast which mostly belong to locals.

Ponza is a nice little island which in recent years has acquired a certain VIP exclusive status and therefore is quite on the expensive side. It doesn't have many beaches and is mostly enjoyed by hiring a boat and being shipped around the island to various places.

Travel Tips for Rome

If you never been to...

by Andrew_Liu

If you never been to Rome, absolutely the place you must visit first is COLOSSEO. I think it is one of the most famous heritage of the world. More interesting thing is that a ruin older than Colosseo was found below the site that Spartacus, the leader in a war against Rome, fought at.

Sidewalk vendors & bargaining

by Packerman

There are tons of sidewalk vendors in Rome. The tip I want to give to you is that you can BARGAIN with these guys. My usual shy wife is better than bargaining than me. We were hot and on our way to the Vatican when we came across a vendor selling drinks and snacks. She wanted a big cold gatorade drink and the price was 5 Euros, and she said 'I'll buy it for 4', and she got it without a problem, could have gone lower probably. By the way, these guys all sell the same stuff whether it is food or these corny Roman trinkets. If you've seen one, then you've seen them all! Don't pay the price these guys are asking. Go inside a few actual indoor shops to compare prices, I found that the indoor shop prices were almost always lower, and sometimes a lot lower.

Money, money, money.........

by bugalugs about Via Condotti

The Via Condotti is famous for its designer shops. In fact I think you have to have lots of money before you can even enter some of these!!!

As shopping is my least favourite pastime I have never actually been in any shops along here, just strolled along.

It is here at No. 87 at the Cafe Greco where literists Goethe, Keats, Shelley, Byrom and Wagner used to hang out!

Metro map

by Fam_Stoica

Rome has 2 metro lines with 33 stations and a total length of 33.5 km (line A - 19 km and line B - 14.5 km).

A 17.8 km light rail line from Pantano is being converted to full metro status (Line C).
