Best Western Hotel Spring House: Excellent location near Vatican    Check Rates

    • This is a Best Western branch hotel located about 2 blocks north of the Vatican. The area is busy with car and scooters everywhere and lots of places to eat, shop, and talk with the locals. Hotel Spring House is a modern looking interior with small rooms. Our family stayed in a Quad (same as the other small rooms but had two fold out beds). Price was 195 Euro/night but they have various rates depending on number in room and season. Room was clean and comfortable. Service was outstanding as the staff was very helpful answering our questions and providing directions. They had a great breakfast buffet including American favorites of eggs, bacon, and ham. But had local favorites of pastries as well. Although coffee was American style in the dispensers, you can ask the pleasant wait staff for espresso or cappicinos and they are happy to fix you up. Since we were close to a main street/area, the noise level was somewhat loud with scooters and vehicles constantly a buzz until about 2 in the morning. Only real problem we had was the hotel shuttle/limo service to and from the airport. Hotel Spring House initially quoted a 60 Euro charge to and from the airport. On our last day as we were checking out, the staff said it was 60 Euros each way!!! Be sure to verify the prices with them way in advance regarding this shuttle service to avoid any surprises. Overall, it was a great stay and easy access to the metro bus and subway...

    Close to Vatican, metro, and subway. Breakfast was outstanding everyday making the start of each day delicious!!!

    We stayed at this hotel in the Fall of 2000 and it was awesome. This was actually the first hotel we had ever stayed in outside the U.S. and we couldn't have been more pleased. At that time the hotel was not yet affiliated with Best Western and Italy was still on the Lira. I had to give it a review on VT since we enjoyed it so much.

    The staff we excellent in helping us get around and take care of any need we may have. We had a double room with a balcony. The view was not stunning, with only a small section of the Vatican wall and the street to look at, but the atmosphere was great. The rooms were immaculately clean and neat. The bathroom is the typical European small but expertly designed. A mini bar in the room was too much of a temptation and I think we drank all the wine and Coke every night (not too expensive thought). There is an excellent breakfast every morning!! Not usual hotel fare.

    Rates here start at E95. So it may not be a "budget hotel." I would call it a budget hotel for the level of decor, class, and service we received here. It is a little out of the way from the other historical areas of the city, but a long walk or even a taxi can get you to anywhere you want to go.

    This Hotel is located just a few meters from the Vatican. The street the Hotel is on actually ends at the Vatican wall. The Museum entrance is just down the street. There are an abundance of tourist restaurants near the museum entrance, but if you look in streets between this area and the hotel you can find some less expensive gems!!

    After making our reservation, the hotel offered to arrange to have a car meet us at the airport. While we are not usually the type to go for that sort of thing we went for it since (at the time) it was $40. All in all it was very quick and efficient way to get to the hotel with out any hassles.

    The staff was extremely pleasant and will arrage tours or help in any way possible. The small bar just off the lobby is also great to catch that last drink of the night, an espresso, or even to just get a bottle of wine opened for you.
