They seemed to care
Nicholas and I really like this slightly old-fashion hotel. Although the rooms were a little cramped and the bathroom amenities an obvious later addition; it was clean and on a fairly quiet side street.
Nicholas and I really like the breakfast that was included in the price of the room. They had an excellent array of choices that would let you put together anything except maybe fried or scrambled eggs. (They did have boiled eggs.) You had choices of tea, coffee, milk, fruit juice and within those choices there would be several "sub"choices.
The people at the front desk were very helpful. They seemed to really care if you got the tours you wanted; if you were having a good time; if they were providing you with a good night's rest.
For a mid-range priced hotel; they came through big time for us.
Unique Quality: The hotel is very near to Rome's main train terminal. This allows you to step off the plane; grab a cheap train, and then once in town quickly walk to your hotel.
There is a computer internet shop right next door. (The hotel will provide you with wireless but it costs extra and that cost is quite high.)
You are very close to the best places to get tours. There are several sights near by. There is even a MacDonald's right down the street; if you're so inclined and the ATM is only a couple of blocks away.

Rome Hotel Nord Nuova
Rooms were very clean and service was excellent. Located 2 blocks from the railway station/main bus station and within walking distance of most of the major sights. Breakfast is included. Rooms were slightly smaller than North American standards but average for Rome.

A good 3 stars hotel
This hotel has very comfortable rooms, with good breakfasts. It is situated near the Termini Station and close to the historic centre of Rome.
A double room: U$S 160 - 184 (breakstast include).-

safe neighborhood
Do you feel that the neighborhood around this hotel is safe, Bettoja Nord Nuova Roma Hotel. Traveling with Teen Girls and just want to make sure it is safe enough. A few reviews are making me worried. I have a reservation there but am not locked in. The price was about 400+ euro's for 3 nights. I wanted to be with in walking distance but of course I am on a tight budget. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I have one daughter who would assume sleep outside then sleep in a room with bugs.

Can't speak to the hotel, as I've never stayed there.
As to the neighborhood, yes, it's safe. You're just around the corner from a well-known museum and a couple of hundred meters from the opera house.
Seems to me that given the ratings (8.2 average) in www.venere.com, it should be ok and the price is reasonable (assuming you're coming in high season, which is anytime after Mar. 15.) I often stay at a hotel less than 100 meters from this one. The neighborhood is a little scruffy, i.e. not elegant, but perfectly safe.
By the way, most hotels are within walking distance of major sites as the sites are spread out across the city. Rome is a very walkable city and walking is usually faster than public transportation. Taxis aren't all that expensive either.
