night train from rome to venice

by jkbansal

Is there any night train from rome to venice. I did not find any train in web site of trenitalia.

The distance and journey time Rome>Venice is not great. Most3trains are the faster express trains, so the journey takes only around 3.5 hours.

But there is a slower train leaving Rome Tiburtina station at 22:36 and arriving in Venice at 05:26.

Look at

http://trenitalia.it/homepage_en.html

for times, details and fares in English.

There is a train that travels overnight but it makes many stops along the way and only takes about 6 hours. You'll not get much sleep. Just take the fast train and get a cheap hotel.

I agree. The ride to Venice is very scenic as well and isn't that why you are in Italy in the first place.

I have to say that arriving in Venice in the morning light would be very romantic. You just might feel too road worn to fully enjoy it.

Have a Great Time

As leics mentioned above, there is infact a night train but that leaved from the other station in Rome, may this is why you are finding it hard to find this train...

If you use the Trenitalia link I posted all trains are shown. I found the Tiburtina train listed along with the Termini trains.

Morning in Venice is just magical. If it is your first time there it will blow your mind. It might be worth the long ride. Somtimes it it good to be a little strung out when you are on the road. I am just prattling on now so I will stop.

I guess it depends on your definition of cheap. You can find plenty of hotels in the Cannaregio area of Venice for less than 100 euros per night. the Dorsoduro area is another place to find cheap hotels rooms. You can use venere.com to find great hotels.

Travel Tips for Rome

A WEEKLY you should buy when in Rome

by Taigosky

When you arrive in Rome and are supposed to spend a few days and wonder what you could do or see, what it's going on that particular week, and so on....then you better buy ROMA C'E', at the cost of 1 Euro (you'll find it at every newspaper stand).
It is issued every Wednesday and - though it is manly written in Italian - it has an English section with all the main tourist information you need.

ROMA BY FELLINI
Federico...

by SirRichard

ROMA BY FELLINI
Federico Fellini (director of four Oscar-winning Best Foreign Language Films) pulls out all the stops in this fantasy-laden, cinematic paean. More an experiential journey than a travelogue, Roma teems with images and sequences inspired by the filmmaker's remembrances and by his sharp observations about modern times. The settings shift from outdoor banquets to music halls, subterranean tunnels to bordellos and more, all enlivened by Fellini's unique style and imagination. (The Ecclesiastical Fashion Show even includes roller-skating priests who 'move faster to paradise.') For all his dazzling imagery, the cinema's high priest of pomp and audacity also had a message--that Rome and Western civilization itself may be at an end.

Campo de Fiori.

by Maurizioago

According to a legend, the name of this square derives from Flora; a woman loved by Pompeo, or maybe because there was a field of flowers in XV century in this area. Campo de' Fiori (in Romanesque dialect) means literally field of flowers.

This is a nice square with some cafes, restaurants and shops. Every morning, until 1.30 p.m. a food market is held here. There are also clothes on sale.

The big statue you see in the center of the square represents Giordano Bruno. He was a philosopher burnt at stake for heresy in the 1600. Food and other things.

Train schedules

I've been looking for an English link to the Italian railway system and finally found it.
We used the train coming from the airport into Roma Termini station. And also to go to Ostia Antica, a half hour ride.
