"Castello Della Castelluccia"
we stayed in Castelluccia for 4 days while sightseeing in Rome... it is an authentic castle built between the 12th and 13th century by the Cancellieri family in the Lazio countryside... it was turned into a hotel in 2002 and was an incredible place to stay... although it wasnt cheap, i think it was well worth the money.. the surrounding area was stunning even in mid-march...
i expected to be treated rather smugly since i dont excatly look like the blue-blood crowd that frequents the hotel, but the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with getting us to and from Rome even though we were about 30 minutes oustide of the city... they had a shuttle bus ready to take us to the train within a half hour of when we requested free of charge... i cannot say enough about the beauty of the castle and the rooms... visit the website to see how awesome it is there.. most of the pictures i took were of the landscape as i didnt want to disturb the other guests and staff by flashing my camera all over the interior...

Has Anyone Stayed at Castello della Castelluccia?

Hi All!
My husband and I are traveling over to Rome/Venice March 30 - April 9. We will be in Rome March 30-April 3, then Venice April 3-6, then back to Rome. We already have accomodations for the initial Rome visit and the Venice visit. I was thinking of getting outside of the City walls when we return to Rome on the 6th, since it will be Easter weekend. I found the Castello della Castelluccia on the web & it looks beautiful. Have any of you stayed there before? Did you like it? Can anyone recommend another place right outside the city that would be nice?

The Relais Castello della Castelluccia (www.lacastelluccia.com) is a very nice and romantic place. It might not be that quiet if they have an event or wedding taking place in their private chapel followed by reception in the garden.
