Even though it was raining, people still come out in their hoardes, onto the streets and into the piazzas. They still sit on the same bench and feed the same birds, the only difference being, that this time they have their raincoat with them!
I find this quite fascinating... they watch the people and the people watch them.
A lovely bit of Italian culture.
